The Hood and the Terix? That's pretty cool. Still wish we'd see the upgraded Excelsior though. Maybe the Hood will have an Admiral McCoy.

The interesting choice I mentioned, is the absence of the previously shown Sphere...
In the solicit for this OP, there was an Excelsior, a BoP, and a Sphere, now, mysteriously, the Sphere is gone and we have a D'Deridex in its' place. Perhaps a sign that WK is going to stop supporting the Borg?

They replaced the Sphere with the Q cards. No idea when they decided it because at GAMA it was sphere as grad prize and then in the email the week after it was the cards.

No, that was an error, It was a three month OP, and they showed three ships, but one was mislisted as the grand prize...
It was obviously a clerical error to list it as the grand prize AND show the Q Contiuum cards at the same time...
The total absence of the sphere however does herald WK changing their minds about the borg...

-derek is right. At GAMA the had it in the slide that the Sphere was the grand prize and even named it Sphere 3095.
Then that email went out less than a week later. At some point they clearly changed their mind. Why, who knows? But I'll take the possibility of future Tomolak over more borg any day.

There's even a possibility that it's Mirror Universe/Romulan in that the timeline Tomalak confronted picard at the Devron system never happened. It was an alternate timeline.

Good point, could be a good opportunity for MU Romulans. Personally I hope its a prime universe ship. MU is my least favorite faction, right down there with 8472 and just above Bajoran.

I can respect that. We should petition dakka for an Orkmoticon with a goatee. Evil MU orks with superior intelligence
I really want to see whats in the Hood. Another named Excelsior is just cool. The release of Voyager killed the Excelsior's moment in the Attack Wing sun. It is still a ship with great arcs. Armed with quantum, they were nasty during the Dominion War.
I am also curious as to what the Q cards are, especially since it looks like we get some kind of Q cards in month 1. Are they similar or completely different

Ambassador Tomalak, as an Admiral, would be a great choice for the Roms. I'm just keen to see what comes out of it (and await the lack of Future Enterprise bleating to commence...)

'Nice one Sirol'...
One of my favorite Romulans, very sneaky and polite to a fault, no losing his cool, just a smiling crocodile. Really hope they do him as a captain card and really do him justice.
An Admiral or just better captain card for Tomalak would be sweet as well, I mean, that's G'Kar ffs.
I do want it on record that I send condolences to the Klingon Empire for the release of 'yet another' BOP... It seems entirely beyond the nice folks at WK to do another Vor'cha.

I kinda have mixed emotions about this OP.
I love the Hood, and it will be nice seeing another Excelsior class ship for the Federation. I have no idea what kind of cards it'll get, or even what it should get anymore. Seems like the Feds are getting repeat cards with just slightly different numbers on them.
Another Bird of Prey... how novel. B'Rel class... eh. I love the K'Vort class. B'Rel... just not enough. Ya know, I made that prediction a while back about ships being able to throw 8 attack dice with no problems- I'm seeing it now. Or 6 attack dice with all conversions/re-rolls, etc., etc. A 3/3 ship with only 1 defense die just can't cut it anymore in this meta. Running it cloaked bumps it up to 5 defense dice, but you still only have 3 hull, and if I'm throwing 6 attack dice that will all hit- say with 4 hits and 2 crits, and you have 5 defense dice with one evade... I'm still going to blow you up unless you get some kind of fantastic roll. I'll add it to my other 9 BoP's (and I only bought three of them...).
Seriously, another D'Deridex?!?! Why not a Valdore? I shouldn't complain too much, because it could have been another Romulan Bird of Prey (and I haven't seen one of those yet that I would take in any fleet...). The Valdore was the best ship in the game for a bit, and since then it's been eclipsed by a lot of other ships. It would be nice to see WizKids throw the Valdore a little love. Maybe call it "Valdore's Valdore" and have the text ability of Capt. Valdore... LOL I think the D'Deridex could really benefit from a 180 fire arc. That would really make the ship very desirable for play. Then again, a 180 arc on any ship makes it desirable.
"Encounter at Farpoint"- can't say much because we don't know whats on the Q-Continuum cards. There are a couple hints in the rules, but... and it's another wide open map. Thinking the Q Cards will be "Screw You!" type cards. If they apply to both fleets, then it will just be a wash as both players just hammer away at each other to win.
"Deja Q"- This actually looks like a fun scenario. You HAVE to play the scenario if you want the Fleet Points at the end of the game. Fleet design will be rather interesting as Q has to go on the ship with the highest Hull value. Given that that ship will have 1/2 primary attack and agility values, and 4 Aux Power Tokens- I can see a generic large hull ship with a 1 capt skill being the "Host" for Q. The rest of your fleet will be trying to shed as many Mission Tokens as possible. I would think that most players would try to get rid of as many mission tokens as possible, and when they have fewer then their opponent, turning and trying to destroy their fleet. I'm actually really looking forward to playing this OP!
"All Good Things"- It looks complicated. Could be fun if both players go for the scenario. With the objective token in the center of the map though... I have a feeling most players will just ignore the scenario and try to blow the opponent's fleet up.
One thing I have noticed in the OP's up to now- if you don't need the special rules to win, or the scenario is overly complex with no benefits to either player... they are ignored. For Encounter at Farpoint, you get no bonus fleet points for playing the scenario, and I bet those Q-Cards will be "Screw You!" type of cards, where the winner of that scenario will be the player that destroys the opponent's fleet the fastest without getting the most "Screw You!" cards. In other words, they will be ignored. Deja Q has some very nice bonus Fleet Points for playing the scenario. Fleet Points may not mean a lot if you have less then 8 players in the OP, but when you have more than 8 players and you only play three rounds- it means the OP Winner comes down to Fleet Points (as there will always be a tie for Battle Points in 1st, 2nd, and usually 3rd place). The scenario is complicated; some players will try and ignore it and just destroy the opponent's fleet. Well, with the amount of fleet points available in this scenario, players should be playing it for all it's worth. In All Good Things... again, a complicated scenario with special rules that do more to hinder play then facilitate it. Bonus Fleet Points in this one comes down to who created the most Static Warp Shells. As the tokens for this are placed BESIDE the ship cards and not ON a ship, at the end of the game, who ever has more Static Warp Shell tokens gets a +20 fleet bonus... which could mean absolutely nothing if you lose the game. Now if you win, those extra points could come in handy if you go 3-0. I bet players will be cagey with this scenario and try to figure out if they can get more tokens then their opponent while simultaneously blowing their fleet up. If a player already has a loss, then bonus fleet points are meaningless unless your OP has second and third place.
I'll probably do a little more in depth analysis on each OP later.

We're getting another valdore class as a general release (and I hope and pray to see tech slots on both named and unnamed versions). I'll be keen to see what cards this brings and what special ability the named has.
I'm not sure the D'D should get the 180, that's sort of the compensation awarded to Cardie ships for having the turning circle of an oil tanker, I would most certainly like them to have rear firing arcs though. Plenty of times in TNG that D'Ds fired rear torps.

And to be fair, there are a crap-ton of D'Deridex's in lore... Whereas the Valdore was a relatively new ship for the Empire.

I'm kicking around an idea for alternate fleet construction rules that focuses on smaller ships. Say, you can't take a ship that costs more than 25 points, and you can't have over 25 points of upgrades in your entire fleet. Call it a 100 point fleet. That's 3 ships and 25 points in upgrades.

But what about smaller ships? It's entirely possible you'd have smaller ships in the build and be left over with points to use but at the 25 point cap in upgrades. :(

To my knowledge, every faction in the game has at least one 1pt. card. And with the sheer number of card point combo's available, I could never see someone being short by more then, and this is just a gut number, 5 points. And if you are below 100, that just means you have the initiative, right? That's usually a very good thing.
Like I said, just something I'm kicking around right now. I just want to see the ships that no one plays because, well, they kinda suck? Why take a 24 point ship when I can take a 38 point ship +10 points of upgrades and be better then twice as good as that 24 point ship? At least that 38 point ship isn't going to be one shot'ed by another ship... (maybe).
