Local guy is starting a Kickstarter to make some really nice looking door bits for terrain and other usages, some really awesome stuff so far. Figured some people around here might be interested. Prices are low and not asking for much.

spincast resin from one of the 'premier' casting companies in North America sounds like Troll Forge to me.

Kirasu: Have we fallen so far that we are excited that GW is giving us the opportunity to spend 58$ for JUST the rules? Surprised it's not "Dataslate: Assault Phase"

Yea I don't know the guy personally he's just a friend of some friends and they showed me this to see if I had any interest, I don't build terrain anymore, but figured a lot of you guys did and would enjoy something like this.

Thank you for sharing it. I'm in for $16 myself.

It is amazing how much I didn't realize I needed this. Will back when I get home. $1.60 a door, shipped? I can deal with that.

Hell I'll throw $10 at some doors.

This is a really good idea - perfect for adding to modellers' own basic building shapes.

Hopefully he'll expand the range to a few more door types and maybe windows too.

It's really refreshing to see actually. Not 100% sure I need them, but I'm tempted to toss in $10 or $15 just to support a guy who's using Kickstarter to get a project done and get a little help to get his bits business going.

The Kickstarter has already achieved it's first 3 stretch goals.

Brian said futher designs will be added, and that they will all be scifi themed.

He has no objection to doing fantasy doors, but he wants to do those as a seperate Kickstarter.

Smart move, I always thought doors and windows were more useful than walls.

Yup, I reckon a fantasy/historical version would also be very popular - including for lo-tech sci-fi environments.

Very cool, good price.

I'm tempted to pick some up even though I'm not working on any urban terrain at the moment.

Could also be used in sf boardgames like Genestealer or Star Wars: Imperial Assault if they could be made freestanding somehow. Anyway, sent a PM to Brian suggesting this. Best wishes on the campaign!

He notes they can be made freestanding if you put two back-back.

Brian S. Roe wrote:I've got a couple of other ideas that I'll be prototyping this weekend. An iris door is certainly one of them. The other is a high-tech lab door. And possibly an armored window and gunport. In order to get this out on time and without two batches of shipping I'm going to keep the stretch goals pretty minimal. I can always do more campaigns but I want this one to be no muss, no fuss.
And thanks for the support and suggestions everyone. I'm really looking forward to getting these made and seeing what a bunch of creative people can do with them.

Brian S. Roe wrote:
Dean: Thanks for fielding that question!
Tom: I'll be selling the doors both on my website, http://store.rsquaredcomics.com/, and hopefully through distribution so that they can be carried in game stores. Thanks for your interest.
I'm still working on the armored window/firing port bit. I've got some adjustment to make to the size and will be posting images soon. Hang in there folks!

Brian S. Roe wrote:
My first goal of $350 will cover the molding and castings costs for one door. Each additional $350 will unlock a new door design.

$2,482 pledged of $350 goal

That would put us as 7 designs so far with 15 days to go.

I think this KS is progressing much faster and larger than Brian anticipated.

New Design, Window and Gunport

Design #5 Window Gunport

A combination of high-tech window and gunport allows defenders a clear view as it gives them ability to fire weapons from within the safety of the building. The multi-layered window panes are easily replaceable after battle and contain small static generators to repel dust and dirt.

(Please notice that each casting of the Window Gunport makes two windows but counts as one door for the purposes of this campaign.)

Ooh windows! I already have a bunch of doors from the Sedition Wars terrain set but some gun ports to accompany them would be awesome.
