As title says. I'm looking into adding a "distraction carnifex" in all my armies mainly because they're a blast to field.

Death Company with atleast two Powerfists for Blood Angels. I actually use Wave Serpents as my distraction with Eldar because my Reavers actually hold most of the power. Tyrannic War Veterans with Chaplain Cassius for my Ultramarines. Watch folks get really scared of a constant Poisoned 2+ squad shoved down their throat while the actual useful folks do better things

And oh yeah, an actual friggin Carnifex. Keeps my Flyrant and Walking Tyrant alive. I guess a Mawloc too but that's not on purpose. It's forced to sit there and take shots after it comes in.

To be fair, it's a very scary-looking model.

When I played tau the riptide filled this role. Everytime it was on the field it drew an enormous amount of fire. And its a pain to kill so it did its job.

It's also death for psykers and daemons (and anything vulnerable to morale), ignores terrain, tears through invulnerable saves and Shroud of Dark Fire makes it very resilient.

I love it.

Command barges with a warscythe or Voidreaper. They are fast, resilient and pack a decent punch. However, I rarely suicide it even if I tend to use it very aggressively. But yeah, when you couple it with other things such as Wraiths or Tomb Blades it tends to work best. Distractions rarely work for me when they are the only thing going on.

I only play Nids, so my favorite "distraction Carnifex" is ...a Tyrannofex, with a Thorax hive. I also talk it up until even I am a little worried.

So scary gotta fire all my Lascannons at dat front armor.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Well of course it makes him sweat, it's bloody Deathwing Knights. One of the few things that can put the fear of the Emperor into players against a Dark Angels army is seeing a Deathwing Knight Squad (with or without Belial or Azrael) jumping an Imperial Knight, Warlord, Lord of War, etc, and hearing the Dark Angel player say the two magic words. Smite Mode.

Surprisingly (and not intentionally) I have found a fire prism draws a lot of fire for relitivly low points - I don't take one anymore though

Chaos Spawn for CSM, and Mawloc(s) for Nids (if that can be said to count).

I'm not sure I've intentionally used this tactic with Necrons yet since the new codex, but for some reason, opponents keep prioritizing my Tomb Blades.

DISTRACTION HELDRAKES!
Also Razorwing flocks and Leman Russ tanks make for good distractions.

But really nothing is so distracting as that Deathstrike Missile Launcher sitting ominously in the corner of the table. It is because it is pointy. Pointy missiles are really scary. Deathstrike Missile Launchers are the ultimate distraction.

This is also an acceptable tactic.

As for me, my Forgefiend w/ 3X Ectoplasma cannons seems to take a lot of heat. Poor lil guy never makes his 24" range, but dammit if he doesn't try!
