Hello,

Looking to get a 50SS Somer Teeth Crew together and was looking for a little advice/help with what I came up with.

Somer Teeth
-Family Tree 2ss
-Can O' Beans 1ss

Skeeter x2 4ss

Lenny 9ss

Gremlin Taxidermist x2 14ss

Slop Hauler x2 10ss

Bayou Gremlin x2 6ss

I was thinking of dropping a Taxidermist and adding two more Bayou Gremlins, and an upgrade. What do you guys think? I want this crew to be summoning heavy compared to my aggressive gunline Ophelia Crew.

Yeah, it's really hard to build a list in this game, it needs to fit Strats and Schemes.

I could ask why you have bothered with Lenny for example, as if you aren't using him as a walking dumb luck trigger or a pigapult ammo generator then he's not as useful. Bit again, it's all down to the mission

Very true, I keep forgetting that when making lists. Still so used to 40K, Warmachine and Hordes.

As has already been mentioned it is very situational. i am still learning what goes best against what.

But there are a couple of things to remember. Sommer can summon more Bayou Gremlins. So there is usually little reason to take more as part of the initial Soulstone cost. In the same vain never give Ophelia her named upgrades. Her totem give her them as an action.

If you are running bothe Lenny and a taxidermist you may want to invest in a Pigapult. Lenny can summon piglets as scheme runners and the Taxidermist can summon stuffed piglets for the bacon load.

Between those 3 you should be out activating almost any crew.

-More Bayou Gremlins

-The Slop haulers and Taxidermists are at cross purposes. You definitely don't need two pairs of support pieces.

-That's a poor summoning list for the reasons stated above. Mostly because you don't have enough gremlins. They're really easy to take out one off, so a poor start can wreck the setup.

-If you want aggressive summoning, I'd agree with Lenny's upgrade. Also consider swapping family tree to sammy. I'm thinking the fewer summoning opportunities (2 vs. 3) is worth the sacrifice for opening up Somer for pure support and offense.

This is probably one of the largest paradigm shifts when moving to Malifaux from pretty much any other game. There are no dominant lists, there really aren't even superior lists. Rather than help with list building, I suggest new players go through the strat/scheme pool and figure ways to score on each one with your masters. Figure three for each strat, two for each suit scheme, one for each numbered scheme. It's really just a thought exercise, but it'll help you far more than any list building advice I can give.

Thank you AngryMojo, it really is such a wonderful game because each encounter is so wildly different from the last one. I dont have much in the way of options for my Gremlins right now, really just a bunch of Kin models to run with Ophelia. And dear lord is Ophelia fun! My opponent learned to hate her Second Loudest Squeel trigger.

But, that is great advice, I will have to start really plugging away at the Strategies and Schemes and start memorizing them.

I've done quite a bit of blog writing on Malifaux, especially with newer players in mind. The game has such a different scheme to it, people have a hard time shifting gears. I often say Malifaux is one of the only games out there where you can lose by tabling your opponent.
