Hello folks,

I thought I'd try to transfer my existing Lizardmen army in to a KoW Orc force.

I have the following to submit for feedback:

20 Skinks as Spitters

2 x 15 Saurus as Ax

20 Temple Guard as Great Ax

5 Cold One Cav as Gore Riders

1 Bastilodon as Fight Wagon

1 Stegadon as Gore Chariot

Old Blood on Carnosaur as Krudger on Slasher (I assume a Slasher is a beast?!)

Skink Priest as Wiz

835pts

I have a few toys left:

3 Ripperdactyls, 1 Old Blood on foot, 2 skink priests.

Isn't 1k the preferred point limit for KoW?

1600-1800 is the preferred limit on a 6x4 table. 1k is kinda the minimum where the game starts being itself. Slasher is a beast yes.

Wow. That's a lot of minis.

I'll give it a miss then. Cheers!

You could probably use them as a FoN army.
20 skinks => naiads regiment, 140 (or 160 if you go ranged)
30 saurus => 1 regiment of salamanders, 1 troop (140, 100)
20 Templeguard=> salamanders with GW (140)
Cold one cav=> centaurs (100)
Stegadon=> Beast of Nature (130-185)
Bastilodon=> Treeherder or Earth elemental (135-260)
Old One on Carnosaur=> possibly Treeherder? (260)
Skinkpriest=> Druid (65-205)
Ripperdactyls=> Eagleriders (135)
Old Blood=> Salamander Veteran (85)

At the low end, youd be at 1560. High end, with everything upgraded, 2055.
Or you could go with orcs. I think you may have used the old pointsvalues, have you checked out the beta rules?

Thanks Tyr13.

I used the KoW Army Builder site, so perhaps that is a bit behind the times?!

Oh, thatd explain it then. The beta is currently in full swing, with points values changing weekly. Armybuilder wont have the updated rules for a while, I dont think.

The spreadsheet has the most up-to-date rules though, and they probably wont change a lot at this point. Mostly just gaining or losing a rule on problematic units and recosting stuff.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

KoW have promised to make up PDF faction lists for all the dropped lines in Warhammer.

I would wait a little while then use the official KoW 'Manlizard' list.
Everything will be there from the Toadmagus to the Saurians to the Lizardlings and the Croc-ogre. Names made up by me, but you get the idea.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

1k is a small quick game. I like playing around 2500 personally (KoW1 values, so 3000 in KoW2), aka around 4000 in WHFB.
Couple dozen units per side, forming actual battle lines with reserves and flank maneouvering.
Solid two hour game.

Ah yes, I recall I read that recently. Thanks for the clarification. Those names actively make me want to buy MORE Manlizard kits.

That's a lot of action in two hours!

EDIT -

Using the new KoW2 Army Builder I've got spot on 1k of Orcs n Goblins:

Regiment of Sharpsticks - Skinks

Wiz - Skink Priest (I used LoH in Warhams, so ZAP! fits quite well!)

Regiment of Trolls - Ripperdatyls (just going off base size more than anything)

Troop of Ax - Saurus with HW/S

Regiment of Ax - Saurus with HW/S

Regiment of Great Ax - Templeguard

Troop of Gore Riders - Cold One Cav

Krudger on Slasher - Old Blood on Carnosaur.

I'm not really sure how to go about adding musicians/heros etc.

Remaing Lizardmen toys are:

A handful of Saurus/skinks/Cold One Cav, Bastilodon, Stegadon, Two Skink priests, Old Blood on foot.

Musicians and banners have been scrapped, since they basically cancelled each other out. You can still use them, but they dont have an impact on the rules. Can be useful to show a unit with magic items though.

Well that will explain why I couldn't find any in the new lists!

They're making a small comeback in function in certain places, but it's not a blanket thing now. The Pipes of Terror still act like a musician for one unit, as well as the Brutal special rule. The new Orc Wardrum acts like a Banner bubble for anything close to it (given its classed as size 1 I believe now it'd work just as well as a scenic base of banner orcs too).
