Pros and Crons of both?

Eldar bikes no question about it. 36" range and JSJ means you'll never get assaulted and you can kite almost every unit in the game.

Eldar can also get Objective secured and dish out twice as many shots at full range compared to the crons who only dish out 2 shots at 12".

Only thing Tomb blades have going for them is ignores cover but when you get 2x the shots at 3x the range does it even matter if they ignore cover?

Tomb blades would be 22pts/m, not 24. And vs jetbikes you'd skip nebuscopes anyway. So for your 80 pts it would be 3 elder vs 4 Necrons.


Remember RP 4+ in a decurion, re rolling 1s (reclamation legion bonus). Makes a huge difference. 7/12ths chance of shrugging off any wounds anyway.

The board is only so big, and with 40 bikes, it's not that easy to kite. The Tomb Blades biggest bonus is their durability. As Ffyllotek says, 4+ RP rerolling 1's makes them quite hard to kill -- you need to make sure you kill every single one in a squad, and that messes up jetbikes firing.

I'm not saying that tomb blades are better, but surely, either way, both of these are awesome units. I wouldn't say that there's "no question", anyhow.

Plus, it may well depend on set up of units. I don't know the FOC options for Jetbikes. Are they limited to a certain number of units? In which case overkill per turn, underkill etc could all come into play. 3-10 x 3 in a reclamation legion is very flexible.

4 TB with Shieldvanes and either Gauss ou Tesla: 80p

3 EJB with either Shuriken Cannon or Scatter Laser: 81p

The Gauss TB deal 1.185 unsaved Wounds on the EJB (Rapid Fire)
The Tesla TB deal 0.889 uW on the EJB
Can't calculate PB :/

The SC EJB deal 2 uW on the TB
The SL EJB deal 1.778 uW on the TB

That's not even a fair comparison. For more or less the same price, the EJB are pretty much superior.

Compare 4 st6 shots to nothing between 25-36", 1 st4 tl ignores cover at 13-24" and 2 st4 tl ignores cover at 0-12". In a straight shoot out if the eldar go first they get 2 whole rounds of shooting before the necrons even get to fire a single shot each, then 1 round before the necrons get into rapid fire. So get to shoot 12 times compared to the necrons 1. If eldar go second they still get to shoot 8 times compared to the necrons 1 before the necrons get a rapid fire round. And of we take it out of a vacume, to get in rapid fire range the necrons have just probably put themselves within assault range (if the eldar player is half competent) of units they don't want assaulting them.

And I was thinking after the release of the necrons that tomb blades were most likely in the top 5 (or even 3) uniys in the game.
