Ok, so today I fielded my new Skitarii against Necrons and ended up winning... I was surprised at this because I only brought 4 troop units

Here is What I bought (all the my skitarii)
5 Ironstriders
4 Skitarii
5 Sicarians
(and purchasing)
6 Onager Dunecrawlers
2 Imperial Knights

Out of that I felt like trying out all four troop units on the board in a 800 point battle. Here is What I brought:

2 Vanguard - 10 man unit each (not listed have stock weaponry)

Unit 1
3 plasma caliver
Omnispex
Alpha with Arch Maul and Phosphor blast pistol

Unit 2
1 Transuranic Arquebus
1 Arch rifle
1 Plasama Carbine
Omnispex
Alpha (same as above)

2 Ranger- 10 man unit each (not listed have stock weaponry)

Unit 1
3 Arch Rifle
Omnispex
Alpha with Arch Maul and Phosphor blast pistol

Unit 2
3 Transuranic Arquebus
Omnispex
Alpha - Taser Goad and Phosphor

The Necron Player brought this list

1 overlord
5 praetorians
5 deathmarks
5 immortals
1 annihilation barge
3 wraiths

(cannot remember the specific upgrades :( sorry)

Turn 1

Skitarii - Destroyed Annihilation barge

Necron - Destroyed 1 unit of rangers and a unit of vanguard (Not the ones with the 3 calivers or 3 arch weapons) In return Skitarii took out a wraith and a few praetorians.

Turn 2

Skitarii - Destroyed praetorians and another wraith.

Necron - Took out a few skitarii rangers with galvanic rifles

Rest of turns

It went like this until I only had my vanguard and he only had his deathmarks (reserves) and his deathmarks... I took care of those in one turn

Things to point out:

I NEVER used omnispex once
Plasma Calivers ROCKED
Arch weapons basically useless after the barge went down :(

I really like the Skitaari, but I'm worried they're gonna be an OP army like Eldar or Necrons

Without Arch weapons do you think you'd have taken down his barge?

They are T3 footsloggers. I wouldn't worry about Skitarii being OP. They seem to be rather well balanced for the edition. Unfortunately, any balanced Eldar list with the new book is going to wipe the floor with them.

nah, they're pretty glass canonesque. sure they have some nice weapons. but they lack much in the way of durability

They definitely catch people off guard. They are very fast footsloggers, and have got plenty of nifty tricks up their sleeves.

One unit of Plasma Vanguard managed to wipe out a Riptide and Grey Knight Terminator Squad in a single game. Same game my last surviving Infiltrator debuffed a Dreadknight so he could be swept by a badly crippled Imperial Knight.

If I were to rate each of the relics.

Arkhan's Divinator: If you're running a Maelstrom of War game with mysterious objectives, would be the only time I'd use it and if I had the points leftover.

Phase Taser: Great on the Infiltrators, your opponents are already being debuffed with -1 to their Init, as well as keeping the unit in the same role.

Omniscient Mask: This one is alright on one of either the Infiltrators or Ruststalkers, a lower model count will force more leadership tests, good for keeping them in for the rest of the game and improving their close combat ability.

Phosphoenix: Put in on the Plasma Vanguards, its usefulness is tripled if you can get your Vanguard a Rent-A-Transport for getting it within that 6" Range.

Pater Radium: I'd say it synergizes well with a low cost Vanguard Unit you want supporting the Infiltrators or Ruststalkers. Keeping it with the Plasma Cavaliers or Arc Rifles is just asking for that artifact never to be used since you want neither of those models in CC and both are very high priority targets.

The Skull of Elder Nikola: This one is definitely more opponent dependent than the others. Synergizes well with the Arc Rifles. Good in the late game with its TurnD6 range and the fact that most vehicles will have taken some damage by then. Need some clarification how Flyers/Jinks work with this.

Its hard to say... He had Quantum shielding and I did have my Plasma calivers (although they were out of range)

I mean an exploded vehicle on the first turn is always nice. He did not even get to move it!
