Well as some of you know I am about to start a Rogue Trader Campaign and have been busy assembling the assorted forces for this epic series of battles. However all armies need some terrain to fight over and so I have been using the campaign as an excuse to expand my scenery collection.

A quick dig through my piles of plastic revealed this little gem that I had bought some years ago from GW...

Like so many models it had been assembled, undercoated and then thrown into a box to wallow. However on seeing it again my imagination was immediately piqued and I scuttled back to the paint station with images of daring rescue/salvage missions playing through my mind.

The terrain itself was painted to fit in with my existing pieces whilst the Rhino was painted in the colours of my large Crimson Fist Army:

Overall I painted this as a side project whilst painting other models and it took me about an afternoon to complete which was pretty speedy.

I am really pleased with how it turned out overall, and I can't wait to get some models fighting over it soon.

As ever there is a bit more detail and a few more photos on my blog:

Cheers mate, I was tempted just to splodge it with a brown rust colour and a few layers of drybrushing, but sometimes it's nice to spend a bit more time on terrain and tie it into your force!

Nice job! The only remark I would make would be for you to consider the rhino further towards the center of the piece so as to provide a more realistic terrain center. Or not, it is pretty cool as it stands though I feel as if the rhino is a bit cut off on the corner of the piece.

That's a piece of GW scenery that is essentially a single piece. Only the trees and the side of the rhino are separate so there's not easy way to move it to the center rather than in the corner

OP: it looks good, but could use a touch of weathering i think, given how beaten up it looks.

Unfortunately this is a pre produced piece from GW that comes as a solid block of vacuum formed plastic so modelling options were fairly limited. I'll position it amongst other craters which should reduce the issue somewhat on the battlefield.

There is a fair degree of weathering on it. But for so,e reason it's not come out do will on the photo, I might revisit it this weekend for some extra damage.
