Hey, so I want to create a Khorne Hound unit, but I'm not sure what to do with the Heralds. Do I just bring one? Do I have multiples so one can just carry the Grimoire? How much is good to spend on Rewards?

I was thinking Hounds, one kitted out Herald with Grim, and Skulltaker on a Juggernaut. Is that a good start?

Australia

10 Doggies, escorting a Khorne Herald on Juggernaut with the Loci that grants Hatred and a 1 Lesser Reward which you swap out for an Axe of Khorne, is a great unit.

Grimoire is better carried by a Tzeentch Herald on Disc or a Demon Prince that's going to fly around all game, since the bearer of the Grimoire doesn't get the benefit of the buff and they can easily find LoS blocking cover to hide.

Is that enough then? Or should I be running 2 of those? Even with an AP2 weapon and his insane statline, I don't think a single Juggerherald is too scary, though I guess it makes it less of a big ol Deathstar and more of a solid "normal" unit.

Make the hounds daemonkin, give them a juggerlord with a powerfist.

Now they are fearless and punchy. Add a Herald with locus of wrath for extra blender power.

Keep the grimoire on a circling Prince.

I dunno how interested I am in that. To get that rolling, I'd either need to play CSM primary for that Lord and ally in the Gorepack, or would need to also bring a Slaughtercult alongside to get the Lord. Either way, that's a lot of points outside of Daemons, which is what I enjoy playing.

take an allied detachment.. only a small tax, 58 pts for cultists or 80 pts for letters.

Oh yeah, I forgot that you could actually take them as a CAD/Allied haha. Been playing Decurion Necrons for too long

That's not a bad idea then. Kitted out Lord with Hounds. For a few points more, he could get a Juggernaut instead of a Bike, which I think might be better? Though then he starts to get kind of expensive for a single model, especially if you give him one of the Artifacts (Blood Forged Armor is clearly the best imo, EW and FNP are too good).

uh, kit him out after you've spent all your points, cheapest is a pfist, most expensive... is a lot more points but will wreck face.

I prefer the jugger to the bike, you get the wound/ toughness/ attack bonus but more importantly keep fleet.

The one downside of a daemonkin allied detachment is you can't mix in normal juggerheralds as they still have instability.

Can the Heralds in Daemonkin not bring Juggernauts?

Yeah, and loci, but not rewards. Just you'll need a full cad to get the two hq.
