Last Saturday a buddy and I ran a 28mm scale "Mech Attack" game at Little Wars. Really a great experience, the game was full and we had a bunch of folks waiting for last minute spaces. AAR, pics and thoughts about the convention here.
http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2015/05/little-wars-2015-mech-attack-battle.html
We had run the same scenario at Adepticon last month which I posted about here:
http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2015/03/mech-attack-at-adepticon-2015.html
The Scenario was similar, but we upgraded the mech selection and most of the buildings.
Last week was the 4th time running Mech Attack at a convention and we've gotten to the point where teaching and running the game is really smooth. We actually ended up with enough leftover time to fight a 3 team deathmatch following the conclusion of the main scenario. I think we've got the game to the point where we can put back in the infantry and vehicle units that
we took out after our first Mech Attack convention game in 2013http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2013/05/epic-photo-dump-from-little-wars-2013.html
Some pics from last week to entice you to visit the AAR's above.
Overview of the warzone.
Finally got some tracks for my EL station. Going to build some proper trestles for next time.
The Attackers have blown up one of the bunker objectives but the defenders give no ground.

Man, that is an awesome looking set up!
Do you mind sharing where you sourced those buildings? I think those would look slick on the Tablescapes urban boards!

Thanks, I'd be happy to.
The buildings are mostly Dust Tactics Warzone Tenements and Quonset Huts with alot of extra greebling.

The Train Station is a Fisher Price Geo-Trax toy with relatively few modifications.

It really was.
The more I run this game, the more I admire the way it's simplicity doesn't detract from the enjoyability of the game and allows folks to jump right in.

Are you guys running the game on a modified SBH engine, or are the rules made completely from the ground up?
And is that a Bandai Glaug kit?

The Rules are "Mech Attack" from Armor Grid Games.
http://www.wargamevault.com/browse/pub/3148/Armor-Grid-Games-and-Miniatures
We play it pretty stock except that since the game is intended for 15mm print and play minis we have doubled all the ranges.
It's a really fun ruleset that boils a battletech'ish game down to 1/3 the time, 1/10th the rules and about 1/8th the price.
We also play it with the standard ranges in 10mm with rebased mechwarrior clix. There's a number of AAR's of this on the blog.
As for the models, there is a 1/100 Bandai Glaug in there. Our mechs are a mix of toys and models from a variety of brands in several scales. The only stipulation is that they look like they could reasonably fit in a 25-28mm scale game. Let me know if you'd like ID's for any of the other Mecha. You can see some of them in comparison pics here:

I posted over on your blog but have you thought about adding a haloclix scarab? It might make a nice addition, is 28mm already, and visually different. It's huge but has a small table foot print (just a 60mm base for each foot) so can tower over the other mechs but may not necessarily be excluded due to your nice terrain.

Wow, that is an awesome model!
Unfortunately it probably would't work for our games. The street layout is just a bit to cramped and while we could houserule something, the mechs kind of top out at the largest size we're using. Might be cool for a one-of special scenario though.
I've actually been thinking a bit about the size issue. I've pretty well decided I'm going to sell off a bunch of battletech toys that I picked up because while they're nearly scale-perfect for 28mm battletech, they tower over the mechs I currently have which top out at round 7.5 inches for the Zaku models.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. I ended up wanting to pick one up after going to my first apoc game event at the FLGS when we had to face a half dozen homemade giant ork titans. The greater good needed a bit of a power boost so I picked one up to convert into my tau army colors as a counts as warlord or even emperor titan for apoc games. They are large enough that they do tend to dominate the table but you can fit alot underneath (see the baby chic devilfish below in the game sideboard and my opponent wondering what to do). I never finished the conversion though as 40k started to go bat gak crazy shortly after with apoc creeping into every game. If you're going smaller already, it's probably not a good idea unless you do a bunch of themed player mechs fighting a single scarab.

That does look stunning in an apoc battle situation. Could really be a tau vehicle with no mods at all. Really solidifies what I thought about the size though. It would take up 1/4 of even my 7x8 table and really isn't capable of any kind of maneuvering.
The nail in the coffin was the price ($300). Believe it or not, this giant mech game is a relatively "budget" enterprise. I scour for deals and the average price of my mechs is probably 15-20 bucks. The average price of my buildings is even less (thanks FFG winter sale!).
That said, I can still dream of a BIG game (maybe 15x15 table) where such gargantuan mecha would stride through cities.
One neat mecha that is going to make an appearance soon is the Dust Tactics 6-legged USA walkers.
It's already a green color so all I have to do is pop off the dozer blade, shorten the guns, gently acetone away the allied markings, pop of the MG pintle mount and do a bit of weathering. And I've got 3 of them….

Are they really going for that much?? I bought mine for less than a quarter that NIB and that was on the high eBay end of the range for auctions (damn sniper bidder!). yeah, they take up a bit less than a corner deployment zone in a 40k 4x6 table. The dust models at 50-75℅ off are definitely a good addition. I didn't notice but do you use any of the votoms gashapon you devilishly got me to buy?
How was both the member and dealer turnout this year? I had heard both were a bit light last year.

I don't have any of the votoms gashapon. They're pretty small, though they could see use as very light mechs. I really wanted some of the 1/35 scale votoms models but for some reason I failed to pull the trigger when they were being closed in the states.
As for LW I'm not sure about attendee count, but the dealer turnout was a bit light this year I was only there Saturday morning and early afternoon, but the morning fleamarket was pretty weak. I probably spent less than half (dealer and flea) of what I spent the year before and that was down when compared to 2013. still a very big room with lots of great games though!
