Basically topic. I know with 7th they kinda fell off. I'm wondering if people think they're still good enough to compete?

They didn't fall off in 7ed. They are still one of the best armies.

Maybe it's my meta then... What are the current competitive Daemon builds?

this one seemed to do alright:

Fateweaver
2x Heralds of Tzeentch Level 3 Discs, and Exalted Reward
2x Herald of Nurgle Level 2, (one locus of Fecundity)
10 Pink Horrors
11 Pink Horrors
2x 8 Screamers
8 Plague Drones with Venom Sting, and Champion with a Greater Reward

Daemons are still the 3rd/4th best army (it's debatable about whether Space Marines are higher) so of course they still compete.

The only power build that got really craped on was Screamerstar, due to the new rules disallowing a single unit to fire off duplicate powers... Flying Circus is less effective, but still very doable.

Beast/Cavbus Rush and Psychic Circus w/Summoning are brutally effective builds, plus we still build ridiculous Deathstars through Be'lakor.

Just curious, what is the role of the Heralds of Nurgle in that list ?

All I would like to add is that this list is blasphemy and spits on the fluff. Tzeentch and Nurgle are mortal (or immortal, as the case may be) enemies. This is the equivalent of taking Khorne + Slaanesh in the same army, and anyone who does it is TFG for not adhering the source material.

Work blocked. Any chance you could cut and paste the relevant part ?

The posted listed is Nick Nanavati's list from Adepticon. It's a two-part article he wrote about his win. It doesn't go over all the specifics unfortunately. But I found it interesting and I don't even play Daemons.

Okay, thanks. I'll have to read it over later.

Definitely still good. I like one of the lists previously mentioned, but I would drop one of the Nurgle Heralds for a Khorne Herald on Juggernaut with Wrath and a 20 man squad of Flesh Hounds. Those things wreck shop.

Try re-reading the codex before you start namecalling. The fluff changed with the release of the last codex and gave an explanation of why the 4 factions would fight together on a regular basis. Throwing around TFG comments to a new person asking for help is...not helpful.

There is nothing wrong with playing multiple opposing chaos gods in list. Play with what you like to play with.

I play:
40K: Daemons, Tau
AoS: Blades of Khorne, Disciples of Tzeentch
Warmachine: Convergence of Cyriss
Infinity: Haqqislam, Tohaa
Malifaux: Bayou
Star Wars Legion: Republic & Separatists
MESBG: Far Harad, Misty Mountains
