This could easily be Decurion if you drop 1 unit of wraiths and then you can take the destroyer formation which makes them much scarier!

I love the list. The only thing I don't like is the fact you have two ghost archs with no big group of warriors to replenish. Other than that it is pretty perfect. You don't get the benifits of decurion but you don't have to deal with all the associated tax. One last thing though. Now that destroyer lords are jet pack inf I don't believe they are good with wraiths as they reduce their movement by half and cannot take the move during assualt phase, so I would take a different HQ or just run the destroyer lord as a solo wrecking machine.

There is no tax in decurion! Stop thinking that! The tomb blades are one of the strongest units in the book and he already has them in this list.

This! For the love of god, my Tomb Blades absolutely tear through enemies. It almost doesn't matter what you give them, as long as they have nebuloscopes, they're amazing.

Decurion is definitely the way to go, I don't think it's ever worth it to go CAD anymore if you can do minimal adjustments to your list and get both the 4+ RP and re-roll on 1s for your rec legion.

Decurion has many restriction:
First, if you want a Triarch stalker to give +1Bs then you also need to take 2 units of praetorians.
Second you need to take an overlord and an immortal unit.
Third the Destroyer cult requires 3 units of regular detroyer instead of heavy destroyers.
fourth the wraiths need to come with a spider and some scarabs.
This would make for a very different list.
decurion is a great detachment but isnt the only way to go with Necrons at all.

for example I personnaly love the Doomsday ark, Triarch Stalker and the Wraiths.

Its hard to get all of these guys in a decurion.

I really like your list bro, I might only recommend to seperate the tomblades in two units to have more board control.

I would agree that the destroyer lord doesnt really have a place with the wraiths anymore but as a way to make your destroyer last longer is pretty good though, maybe just exchange the Warscythe for a phylactery to make him last longer

I strongly disagree with what this person has posted, not saying my opinion is greater on this list, but I just wanted to offer some counter arguments:

0. 4+ reanimate globally + formation bonuses are invaluable for the 'tax' which can be turned into strong units regardless.

1. Taking a triarch stalker is not mandatory, I expect OP has other models to spend points on, otherwise ignore this entirely.

2. Great! We can put 5 - 10 immortals in a nightscythe by dropping 6 of those wraiths, of which wraiths are normally a tarpit unit now, as well as a possible triarch stalker drop? - If not also ignore this entirely

3. A destroyer can be upgraded to a heavy destroyer, which is more than enough considering the current meta.

4. Yes, and that makes them worth much more than they do without the scarab/spyder tax. Besides, those two units have worth, especially spyders.

If I were to modify your list OP I would turn it into this, again this is just what I would do, alter what you wish:

Decurion

Overlord, Catacomb Command Barge, Warscythe

x10 Warriors, Ghost Ark

x10 Warriors, Ghost Ark

x5 Immortals, Night Scythe

(splitting your 6 tomb blades into 2 squads of 3)

x3 Tomb Blades, Nebuloscope, Shieldvanes
x3 Tomb Blades, Nebuloscope, Shieldvanes

Canoptek Harvest

x3 Scarab Bases
x1 Spyder
x6 Wraiths (removed your whipcoils, dont worry, nothing in this meta will kill you with 3++ 4+++, T5 W2)

Destroyer Cult

Destroyer Lord, Phase Shifter
x2 Destroyers, x1 Heavy Destroyer
x2 Destroyers, x1 Heavy Destroyer
x2 Destroyers, x1 Heavy Destroyer

1847

This gives you a solid combat unit which is practically immortal, and will tie up your nasties such as monstrous creatures, walkers, even gargantuan creatures for a decent amount of time (haha wraithknights... for a while, + you can keep up with them)

Also hybrid destroyer units with preferred enemy which will reck medium armour and heavy infantry

A hardhitting barge lord which will be your heavy tank hunter if need be, and remember he's a chariot so you allocate the wounds on armour/lord

And finally a solid core which contains solid units, with some air support, or to drop onto last objective, and of course the tomb blades will do what they do best.

Hope I helped

I dont have my codex with me right now but aren't you missing a heavy destroyer unit for the destroyer cult? also can the overlord from the decurion take a catacomb command barge, I was under the impression you cannot.

also I dont see why you would say something like you strongly disagree with me bro, all im saying is the decurion detachment has some restriction, which isnt arguable as it does have restrictions, sure they aren't terribly hard to overcome but they are still there.

As I said I agree that the decurion detachment is great. who doesnt like a 4+ RP and the units involved are all good, but it isnt the only way to go with Necrons.

lets say you absolutely want 2 doomsday arks (my personal favorite unit of the Necrons), I would in this circumstance, not take a decurion detachment.

I think that he was basically saying that any and all restrictions imposed by the detachment are completely outweighed by the numerous benefits. Currently, only 2 armies have detachments (necrons and eldar) and they're both the strongest armies. I would argue that this is largely due to those detachment buffs. I think that even in the case where you want two doomsday arks, there are more reasons to forego that desire for a different unit/formation (supposing that you're willing to give up the novelty).

Personally, I agree that doomsday arks are very cool, but i think you can get the job done nicely without two.

As far as the destroyer cult goes, there is an optional 1 squad (0-1) of Heavy Destroyers that you're allowed. So you can take that if you want, but it's not required for the formation. It IS required that you have at least 3 models per destroyer unit though.

1. Nope, destroyer cult is 3 squads of destroyers, 0 -1 heavy destroyers
2. Yes overlord can take catacomb command barge, it specifies on the bottom of the page
3. What's wrong with saying I strongly disagree? It's no ad hominem, I am just stating my opinion, i'm not being aggro mate :-D
4. There aren't any 'real' restrictions, the 'tax' units are all solid units which can be turned into something useful on the board
5.If i were you, I would honestly just take 2 annihilation nexuses. Annihilation barges are still strong, AV 13 wall is always great, and you can keep your doomsday arks alive longer, and on top you get the decurion.

Don't worry bro, I personnaly wasnt feeling aggroed.
I was merely saying that what I said about the Decurion detachment isnt a matter of opinion, the Decurion detachment HAS restrictions, sure the restriction are very easy to overcome and most of them merely force you to take some of the strongest options the codex gives you access to while making them even stronger. but it does restrain you none the less since it FORCES you to take them, and the units you want need to come in specific groups instead of individually. Its more restrictive then a CAD for example.

I would, if I were you, be carefull about starting a post with " I strongly disagree with what the last person posted" especially if its a post that has many points and you only disagree with one of them and since, as explainned above, that point isnt a matter of opinion.
Many people could take offense to this, maybe by only stating what part of the post you disagree to would get better result instead of disagreeing with a full post, it does make it seem like you were trying to be dismissive of everything I said.

The list you posted seems like a good list, you certainly seem to know your Crons, but maybe the OP absolutely wants a Triarch stalker in his list, and doesnt own or plan to own a Praetorians. does that mean that his list will be crap? of course not.
The CAD can be a very powerfull option for necrons.

The decurion detachment only helps non-vehicule Necrons, what if he wants to do a mech list with necrons? would you recommend the decurion detachment? probably not.

what if the OP regularly fight a guy that always play with an adamantium lance formation, or 3 wraithknights, then one heavy destroyer per unit would certainly not be enough, full units of heavy destroyers could certainly be a great idea and even losing the +1 to RP would be worth it.

my main point was simple, yes the decurion detchment is strong, but it isnt the only option for a strong necron list.

for example one of my favorite necron list I built is this (its a 2000pts list but still)

Destroyer Cult
200 1x Destroyer Lord / The Gauntlet of the Conflagrator / Warscythe / Tachion Arrow / Philactery (with Heavy Destroyers)
150 3x Heavy Destroyers
120 3x Destroyers
120 3x Destroyers
120 3x Destroyers

CAD
50 1x Necron Lord (in NightScythe)

85 5x Necron Immortals
130 1x Night Scythe
85 5x Necron Immortals
130 1x Night Scythe

125 1x Triarch Stalker

172 4x Wraiths / Whip Coils
172 4x Wraiths / Whip Coils

170 1x Doomsday Ark
170 1x Doomsday Ark

1999pts total

I think this list can fight mostly anything and have a good chance.

its relatively similar to what the OP posted actually

As others have stated I agree you should look at a Decurion Detachment as you're so near to it anyway. Also don't put the DLord with Wraiths as you cut both units' speed, Dlord only moves 6" now and loses the thrust move if with Wraiths who are forced to string out and then slow down to maintain coherency.

Otherwise the Dlord is equipped for combat with no way to get there except on his own.

Warriors are fine, same with Blades (only I would advise more of the later).

Wraiths should never be fielded in units above minimum size. As they no longer work effectively with the Dlord their damage output has shifted from mediocre to poor. So they are now a fast moving tarpit, which means you want them to be cheaper than the unit they tarpit. Keep them cheap the same is true in a Harvest stick with 3. 3 Wraiths will still kill a tank or MSU unit and will still hold up what you need held up. Remembering 6 Wraiths can be tarpitted by a tactical squad for most of the game...

Some maths for you. I'm guessing the heavy amount of HGCs is due to an abundance of Knights in your meta? (Or an expectation that it's about to go up after today). Well a normal Destroyer in a cult has an 11/36 chance of glancing a Knight with each shot vs 1/2 for the Heavy Destroyers you have. However Destroyers have 2 shots meaning they average 22/36 HPs (ignoring rolls to hit) vs 1/2 or 18/36. Thus you can see that actually shifting to a Cult gains you GREATER ability to damage knights (and all AV13-) before even upgrading a few to Heavies.

Sporific's list is a good basis for shifting your list over to a Decurion. The only change I would suggest is dropping the 3 unnecessary Wraiths get 3 Destroyers instead allowing you to split off the Heavy Destroyers into a separate unit and gaining more firepower for the loss of literally nothing.

This^ I would have made the wraiths minimum size, but considering he had 12 in his original list, i didn't want to morph his list too much.
