Hi Guys,

Just got my new imperial knight.
And I don't know yet if I want top field a Warden with Gatling Canon, Reaper Chainsword and Missile Pods or the Crusader with Gatling Canon, Thermal Cannon and Missile Pods.

I know that a Destroyer weapon can be handy but to my humble opinion the real asset of an imperial knight in cc is the stomp attach which it would have with or without the Chainsword.

I am also hesitating between the Missile Pods and the anti-air twin Icarus Cannon. I think an Heavy 3 Str 8 missile already have 50% chance hitting a flyer and would be more versatile in a battle.

Thanks for the feedback.

Crusader's more expensive and I don't think it gains eneugh to be worth those additional points.

mind you I like mixing it up too, and thus the melee d weapon suits my preferances

Warden, Paladin, or Errant. Take whichever one fills the firepower hole in your army. The Gallant isn't very versatile, and the Crusader is too expensive.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

I would only consider the Crusader if I could swap out the Gatling Canon for the Battle Cannon, therefore making it a pure long-range attack platform w.the Stormspear Missile Launcher. Can I do that or could I only swap out the Thermal Cannon? And can the Errant take any of the Carapace Mounted Weapons?

When I heard of the gun toting crusader I had hoped to do duel Gatling Cannons or Battlecannons for sheer dakka hilarity.

But I can't do that! (gaah!)

Ill build a Pair of Crusaders, Gatling Cannon- Battle cannon and Gatling Cannon -Thermal Cannon. and one with a fist + Cannon.

Their carapace weapons Ill figure out later. Maybe Missile Launchers, but im leaning toward the AA guns.

I might throw one in with all melee. maybe. I need to double check If I can go both fists or both swords.... I don't think I can... But either way I have a design in mind for it...

Gallant will be my first choice, with magnetized missile pod option for shooting if I want to spend the points for it, along with the upgraded meltagun in the shoulder ball joint mount should I want to drop a high strength shot into a hard target before charging.

I love the thought of a close combat oriented knight, and while I do appreciate how cool the guns are, across the board, I love the thought of being able to force a flank and rush in, wielding 5 strength D attacks on the charge. Call it the Blood Angel in me.

Looking forward to painting my knight up slowly, taking my time and making it look nice.

Take it easy for now.

I think the Stormspear is much better than the alternatives, except if you are fielding a knight army and just want a Skyfire unit.

I would avoid any Forge World units/rules since they are not allowed in my local shop.

Since I play most of my games at 1250, dropping a Crusader into a list to get it up to 1850 or 2000pts is easy. Looking at one with the Battle Cannon and Icarus. Fills some gaps in my anti-MEQ and Skyfire abilities. I'll be able to swap out for more anti-tank in the actual army.

If I may ask, what race are your primaries? Personally, I play tau and my choice would be either an Acheron (love the hellstorm) or, if not FW, then Crusader or Warden.

and at Desperate Allies, with stomp, I never need to worry about getting within 6" of each other.

As I am running Militarum Tempestus in Taurox Primes as my army, I was leaning towards the Errant for the Thermal Cannon but would that one be the best fit? I like the Crusader but that one is expensive point-wise so I am still debating on which one would work out the best. I recall that the Thermal Cannon is 36 inches but what is the range of the Gatling Cannon?

It depends on the army to be given support, I am playing Wolves and the Crusader in my opinion is the best option.
3 areas and the gatling whit the ability to shoot from 72 " without showing the side make it the best choice if you play only one Knight in a mobile list.

The Avenger Gatling Cannon is also 36" range. I'm not very familiar with Militarum Tempestus, but the Crusader seems like it could be good for them. It's basically a walking tank.

with a MT army I'd almost reccomend seeing if you can squeeze 2 knights in. you're not going to have a lot of heavy armor so you might wanna try to split the anti-tank firepower the other guy has

As a stand alone Knight, I'm thinking the Warden has edged out the Errant and Paladin for being the most flexible solo-Knight. It's range band and high rate of fire mesh very well with its melee capabilities. If the Crusader was 40pts cheaper, it'd be the clear winner. As is, I'd rank the Wardrn just ahead of the Errant/Paladin.
