So I have the opportunity to buy an opened but unassembled complete box set of the battle for skull pass for about $35. Besides being able to sell it, would this be a good buy to get into Warhammer Fantasy?

Yes. Very much so. $35 for that set is a steal.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Due to work, I can usually only ship any sales or trades out on Saturday morning. Please trade/purchase with this in mind.

Does it make the start of a good Dwarf or Orc/Gobbo army, or with 9th coming up should I just sell it?

They are both good bases to jump off from. My favorite set personally.

For $35 I'd buy it. Hell, I'd buy the Night Goblin Spearmen alone for $35, lol, I love those little dudes, one of my favourite models. The Spider Riders are pretty good too, as is the cannon. The Goblin archers and Dwarf infantry aren't great but not terrible.

Definitely buy it, and for now, I would say keep it. We don't have any concrete information as to what 9th Edition means. The most recent rumor has it set up to be more of the same, so this would definitely be a good starter set for that army. Especially if it would be compatible with the rumored skirmish level of the next edition.

The dwarf models are generally bad, but the goblin models are steller.

The dwarf range does have a couple of good models actually, the naked slayer and the miners. Thunderer champion is nice too but the general is very poor as are the Warriors.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

This could be an awesome set if a more skirmish-sized WHFB is on the horizon! I really have little idea of what may be coming (with all the conflicting rumors), but it's a possibility.

I mean, I know I'd buy it!

Exactly. I bought the set for the dwarves, but fell for the goblins instead. Just thinking about the gobbo sculpts got me back into WHFB, a few months ago, too. Almost sixty painted NG infantry later, I'm still feeling it. I've got around 40 more to paint, and I'm actually looking forward to starting my next block of archers.

If anything, buy the set for the gorgeous, characterful miniatures (the goblins, that is - forget about those blobby, misshapen dwarves). You'll get hours of enjoyment from both playing and painting.

So I ended up getting the set but I don't think I'm going to get into Fantasy right now. A buddy just bought me the Ork 40k codex and I'm working on a small Orkz army. Is anyone interested in buying the set?

I would, I love those sets, lol, but shipping would probably be too much of a pain in the arse.
