Do the Daemonkin auxillary formations work like the necrons? Can I take a gorepack without taking a slaughter cult? L

Yes you can. You just do not receive the multi formation command benefits

There's no maulerfiend formation.
The example you gave was gorepack, which is a formation.
The blood host auxiliary options may only be taken in the blood host.
Those that are also listed as formations can be taken separately.

Basically the test for a formation is "does it have a datasheet with 3 skulls?".
If yes it's a formation, If no, it's just a possible addition to the detatchment, like "deathmarks" from the decurion.

Why do you consider the maulerfiend from daemonkin improved? I was rather sad that its cost went up by 5 to give it furious charge since it already swings at strength 10 without that.
And as the others said, while you can use gorepack separately, you cannot use the auxiliary ones that aren't listed in the back of the codex independently.

It's improved because you can take 8 in one detatchment, making them more points efficient as there is less tax.

To clarify - you can only take 8 in a *Blood Host* Detachment, which comes with it's own "tax" (ie the mandatory Slaughtercult Formation). You cannot take the War Engine Auxiliary on it's own.

Yes but the tax of a min slaughtercult works out more efficient than, (for 8 maulerfiends) 3 seperate HQ choices, and 6 troop choices. Assuming that you aren't playing with a detachment limit.

I don't think he was saying "improved" as "more efficient". If I say something was improved I would mean it was made better in some way, like firedragons getting an extra +1 on the vehicle damage table. If that's all he meant that's fine, but it sounded like he was saying the unit was actually improved in some way and not just more cost effective. I'd hoped I missed something in the new version.

To build on this thread instead of making a new one;
If I run 2+ DK detachments, formations, or whatever, do they generate seperate tithe pools or one joint pool?
Just wondering how the DK will scale in huge games.

Bloodtithe is for the whole army, so no way to get 2 free blood thirsters in one turn, but taking two of the "decurion" uber formations gives you 2 free points a turn

to piggy back, what about 2v2? ( kd and kd vs x and y and/or kd vs. kd) both armies have separate tithes? or everyone with bftbg gets the boon?
i'd assume they are different since it is different armies.

Legacy of first war of armageddon.vehicle gives +1 inv sav to daemons of khorne within 6".
Stacks very well with daemonkin daemon engines, but you will have to ally it in with a normal CSM army, and it can't be put on a daemon engine itself. Automatically Appended Next Post: slamma wrote: Dakkamite wrote:To build on this thread instead of making a new one;

That entirely depends on how you are house ruling your 2v2 games. Generally I would assume different armies (each get their own warlord etc)

There are zero rules for doing anything other then a 1v1 so you have to just house rule it.
