As it says above really, what are everyones thoughts on the Khorne Demonkin Codex?
A much needed boost for Chaos?

I dunno about much needed boost, but they are very good, and winning games, so yeah a positive development in terms of competitiveness for chaos aligned armies.

Yes absolutely!!
Way more fun to play if you're sick of gunlining your dudes. Which you kinda have to do against a lot of armies who can Drop Pod on you. I've been trying to get across the board for a few editions now and not getting very far.
But since dedecating myself to Khorne again, I'm finding it waay more fun. Especially the dieing!!!! Don't even care if I don't win. Is just great to finally have something fluffy that means something.
The previous books were just so bland and flavourless. Then they brought out the Black Legion suppliment that made things even worse for the regular dex. What was the point? After all the regular dex WAS the black legion.
Anyways, the Deamonkin book will get old fast as a playstyle. Limiting yourself to that formations gives you the juicy rules that you want, but stops you from exploring all of the variable lists that were half the fun.
There's always a tax for most formations (Other than Gorepack).
Hopefully the other codexes get even more juice (Apart from Nurgle, it's already a bit too much of an auto-take in the old dex).

A lot depends on how local people play deep strike. Half of the time it makes them unusable. But a melee codex doesn't do much against how fast armies are in 7th. One should thank GW though that they didn't add some sort of must charge rule to them.

Well you know it is extremely likely that they are going to do this for the other 3 chaos gods, and probable that there will be no CSM or Chaos Daemons codex for this reason.
Which makes me wonder what the other gods' Blood Tithe equivalent will be.

Some friends and I were thinking of this and we reckon they could goes as follows:
Tzeeny could have something based on how many powers you cast successfully
Slannesh could be similar to khorne but based directly on wounds taken
Dunno about Nurgle though since they have the Epidermis dude that does something similar

I think that the FnP rule fits all of the chaos mono god guys pretty well, fluffwise. They've all had a variant of it at some point.
And the army wide rules I think brings something to the table. Like when Tau got the additional overwatch rule. I thought it was powerful yes, but definitely added something to that army that the other factions couldn't get. Same with Eldar and their running and shooting.
Tzeench though I think would benefit from making them into the decent sorcerers that they are meant to be.
But they and Slaanesh need a lot more love to fit the fluff and make them worth fielding. Tzeench in particular.

I've spent the last few days working out what I think could be a competitive list, and overall I think there's some pretty nasty combinations in the book. I do not think that it helps out CSM's much, because to be honest, you kinda need a pure Khorne Daemonkin army to maximise the Synergy and effectiveness of BFtBG.
Not to say that they couldn't make pretty good allies, but I think the book will work best when used as a stand alone Codex (isn't that rare for Chaos!)
That said I think it will be very tricky to play competitively. You have to get blood tithe tokens to make it work, so things must die. A smart opponent will whittle down a lot of your units, and then play clean up right at the end of the game, to minimize how many blood tokens you get. Effectively castrating your army.
On the other hand, if things die fast enough, you stand a very real chance of unleashing 1 or maybe 2 bloodthirsters into your opponents line by turn 3/4. That's a bad day for any army in the game.

I don't think these daemonkin books will replace a daemon or csm book. What would people do that enjoy mixing gods in a single source?
I see daemonkin along the lines of skiitari or harlequins.

Well, there is always allies, but yeah I agree. They're probably going to be alongside CSM and Daemons, because how would you run an Undivided CSM force for example? Although, it's not like GW cares about Chaos players so maybe that's not a concern for them...

Given how bad the latest Tyranid, Chaos Space Marine, Dark Eldar, and Ork codices are I'm starting to think that GW just really doesn't like its bad guy armies.
