As the title says I am considering whether or not to purchase a Machirus for a game I have coming up.

I can purchase a model for £45 that will perfectly represent it, but looking at the in game stats I am wondering if it is worth it or not. At 325 points it does seem to lack something for what it does, I mean sure the TW battle cannon/vanquisher cannon is nice, and the hull and sponson weapons are okay, but when compared to the price and defectiveness of a normal Leman Russ or a Vanquisher it just seems.... I dont know.... Meh.
My problem is that the Battlecannon only rerolls the scatter, you dont get two sots with it and when combined with the hull and sponson stubbers you are essentially getting a vehicle that does what the Russ does with a little more survivability, but at a far higher points cost.

I know my opponent is bringing Skarbrand (the Chaos Demons Codex version) leading a Nurgle/Khorne themed force with two Nurgle Sorcerers (one bike mounted) and a Khorne Terminator lord, at least 10 Terminator's with Lightning Claws and a LOT of Khorne Bezerkers.

This game is next Monday. Should I or shouldnt I?

The Macharius isn't a"competitive" option, but it can still be fun to use. The survivability is a point in its favor, as is the ability to fire all weapons at full BS against different targets. I'm a fan of the Vanquisher and plasma variants.

Macharuis Omega might be worth it, but for a hundred or so points more you could be getting a Baneblade...

This is the biggest problem with it. You're paying almost as much as a Baneblade/Shadowsword/etc for a tank that is much less powerful. Unless you're going to do something absolutely amazing with the ~100 points you save you're better off taking the bigger tank.

The problem is that you only have one meaningful weapon. Split fire is awesome on a Baneblade or titan, but much less impressive when your best secondary gun is a BS 3 heavy bolter.

Thankyou all, these where my thoughts exactly. I guess I shall be sticking to regular tanks for now then..... How does 3 Leman Russ, 2 Bane Wolf, 1 Manticore, 1 Thunderer, 2 Chimera and a Rhino carrying a pair of Cyclops sound?
