This sub forum is for tactical questions, btw, not rules issues.

Also, Dakka rules prohibit giving out game rules in lieu of someone buying their own copy of the book.

Depends. You could be talking about the one the wraithguard with D scythes have, which is a template ap 2 assualt 1 weapon with Strength D, but the roll on the D chart is minus one.

You could also be talking about the tourney comped rules to make D less over powered, in which I believe it is something along the lines of only 2 wounds max dealt with a roll of 2-5, and a 6 deals like d3 wounds and not insta death.

Indeed. So over we go to the General Discussion, and I only want to see people directing him towards the rules, no scans/links to illegal sites/etc. Thanks

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

The nerf to strD they instituted for ITC is a joke. D2 hp/ wounds on a 2-5, and 2 HP/wounds on a 6 is nonsense. Make a 6 do d3+3 and don't allow them to roll on the damage table is all that was needed. It would allow knights to survive most Dshots fired at them, and still made people think about whether or not they should field death stars.

The fact is, last LVO you had double shot large blast strD that ignored half of the hits allocated to it, fired from 60" away, and was on a sky shield landing pad for a 4++ and they still didn't win the tourney. People need to stop being so scared of a weapons system that can at most kill 2 models a turn in shooting.

They didn't just nerf D, they gutted it, lol. The question is, will they nerf other powerful weapons as they come out, like Admech Torsion Cannon (sp? The Kataphron one).

2 models can mean a whole lot of different stuff. Losing two guardsmen doesn't mean much. Losing two Daemon Princes or two Leman Russ tanks means a whole lot.

Just because something didn't take top place doesn't mean it still can't be broken and in need of fixing.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

NOVA has its own version of a D nerf, one which is much better than the ITC (IMO).

Shots greater than 12" away from the target count any 6's as a 2-5 result instead. At 12" or closer, a 6 on the D will do D3 wounds, no saves of any kind. D is still considered strength 10 for the purposes of instant death (unless specified otherwise).

Keeps the 6 result from being too over the top while also retaining the nice strength 10. As it is, the ITC sees scarabs more survivable against str D than centurions....

Reece has been very clear about the reason for the change. It is most likely not going to affect the players at the top tables, but it will have a major impact on the enjoyment of mid tier players at the tournament. They need the mid tier to show up or otherwise the tournament doesn't happen.

Right, but what about the mid tier guys who aren't going to field their strD weapons because they now suck, then spend the game getting slapped around by psychic death stars because the only reason to not field them was neutered so bad it could claim malpractice? There is a reason strD was as powerful as it was, the 2-5 would shut down monstrous creatures and heavy vehicles, and the 6 was to eliminate high level superheavies in apocalypse games. Making the 6 d3+3 would allow that to still occurs, but would let enemy superheavies the chance to retaliate.

They responded to overhyped fear of power with panic and overreaction. Their constituency doesn't want change in any major way, which is why their maelstrom is secondary, and no one may have multiple superheavy units besides imperial knights.

I don't think you can played 40k 7th at tournaments straight out of the book. With no changes, no moderation, then the tournament scene would at first homogenize as the best units are the only choice, shrink as the mid tier refuse to waste their time, then it would atrophy as people get bored of the same thing, then die.

You disagree with FLG's decisions and that is fine. But their goal of a quality tournament for everyone is note worthy regardless of your opinion of the outcome.

Oh and Maelstrom is secondary because the rules blow ass!

I just plain don't think you can/should play 40k in tournaments.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.
