So I recently bought and got a great deal on a fairly large IG force on ebay. The picture had them sitting on a gorgeous bunker complex of some sort, and I just assumed it'd been used for glam shot purposes, as the models were unpainted.

Well, apparently it was part of the package, so I am now the owner of a "firestorm redoubt". Nifty, but I'm confused by the rules.

It says access points and fire points "as modeled" and the access points are obvious, but it's got one big giant slit in the front as a fire point.

Does that mean it's just one fire point, like the same as one of those itty bitty windows in a bastion? Can only one guy fire out of it? If so it seems kinda silly to pay 200 points for something that might be 4 BS1 auto-firing Lascannons.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

The Stronghold assault book answers the question about the fire point. (I think they call it a very wide fire-point, but do not quite me on that).

P.S. why would the Lascannons be BS1?

Because it has skyfire and still has to shoot at the closest unit it can see

Because if my opponent doesn't bring a flyer it's snap firing at the closest unit.

The lascannons are only ever bs2 though(unless there is a building upgrade i am forgetting from sha(they cannot be manually fired)

And yes the firestorm got new rules in sha changing the firepoint to an "extra wide firepoint"(or maybe just wide on that one) which allows greater than the normal number of models to fire out.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

and? that doesnt mean it is BS 1... only if the closest unit is not a skimmer/flyer...

Which is exactly why the you were replying to said "...might be 4 BS1 auto-firing Lascannons."

At least they're twin-linked. They're BS2 against flying units (BS3 if you purchase the upgrade). But against Ground targets they only have those 4 twin-linked shots at BS1.

Note: the little datasheet that comes with a fortification does not have all of the upgrades for them. It lets you field the Fortification without buying the Stronghold Assault book, but you still need the book if you want all of the options. I don't think the BS3 upgrade is on the little datasheet that came with it.

It is a "Very Wide Fire Point" as detailed on page 27 of Stronghold Assault, which says that 6 models may fire out of it.

Can always use it as Terrain for a game, OP. Declare it dilapidated, take off the guns, lower the AV and there you go.
