So in general, marine chapter tactics are a pretty cool way of representing various marine factions. They aren't as in-depth as formation bonuses most of the time, but I like them. If you had to create a chapter tactic equivalent for each of your factions, what would it look like? For instance, what might Saim-Hann, Thousand Sons, or decurion chapter tactics look like? Feel free to create rules that would assume formations and detachments aren't a thing.
|
ATTENTION. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Hmm, nice idea. I'll do one for my IG regiment, the Lone Gryphonnes.
Fortress Defence Force tactics -
Whilst in man-made cover (barricades, walls, fortifications, etc.), units with these tactics receive +1 to cover saves (up to a maximum of 2+) and +1 Leadership (up to a maximum of 10).
Whilst not in man-made cover, units with these tactics receive -1 to cover saves and -1 leadership.
Purchased Fortifications receive a -1 when rolling on the damage chart (only when manned by units with these tactics)

Well BA would be jet pack and choppy heavy because their primarch could fly and was one of the best in the business at chopping stuff.
They would want to emulate his zipping about in the air and chopping stuff.
No scatter on d/s. +1a, +3 charge, must move towards closest unit
2+fnp if they killed in hth last turn.
Screw that emo corax, and his I'm dark and only have 2 legs.
But now I have a jet pack and claws. I do everything these days, I'm sneaky, stabby, thinky and master of all elves/thorpes.

Alaitoc - Rangers get the old Pathfinder rules. Every shot is a Precision Shot.
Biel-Tan - Aspect Warrior Squads of all Aspects can Charge after disembarking from a Transport.
Saim-Hann - One member of a Windrider Squad can be upgraded to a Vyper for some sort of cost.
Any Chaos Marine model in a Death Guard or other Plague army should get Blight Grenades, while every Transport in a Slannesh army get free Dirge Casters on their transports. Any Khorne Marine gets a Chainaxe to replace the Chainsword for free. Tzeentch Champions should have the option to purchase Pskyer Level 1. The Detachment bonus should be the only way to get these bits of gear. Screws Black Legion and my own Red Corsairs but oh well. Automatically Appended Next Post: Hive Fleet Kraken should get an increased run distance, +3 inches army wide that stacks with existing bonuses. Hive Fleet Leviathan meanwhile gets +1 to any Jink Save and Jump Pack units gain Jink.

Oh, so I'm not the only one who thinks about his own Chapter Tactics!
For me its:
Knights of Typhon:
Unbreakable Will: Confers the Adamantium Will and Feel no Pain (6+) USRs to all models
Legacy of Typhon: Dreadnoughts, Venerable Dreadnoughts and Ironclad Dreadnoughts can be taken in squads of 1-3. No IC's except Techmarines, Masters of the Forge or Techpriests may join the unit.
They both reflect the lore behind my chapter, and the "Legacy" trait is there because I cannot take Predator tanks or Terminator-armoured units (Preds don't gel with my combat doctrine, every last one of our terminator veterans are dead, the armour lost with them)

Chapter Tactics (Charnel Guard)
Stasis-armouries of the IX legion: A detachment using Chapter Tactics (Charnel Guard) may include an unlimited number of models with the 'Relic of the Armory' special rule, even if it does not contain a keeper of relics.
Defend them to the last: All vehicles chosen as part of a detachment with Chapter Tactics (Charnel Guard) are considered obscured any time a friendly model is between them and the firing unit, even if not 25% concealed. Additionally, all Charnel Guard vehicles receive +1 to cover saves afforded by intervening friendly models.

As an Eldar player I'd like to try
Guardians of Zahr-Tann
Bladestorm barrage: Bladestorm is now army wide on a roll of 4, 5 or 6, instead of just a 6.

That's definitely over the top considering shuriken catapults will now ignore marine armor on 100% of their wounds, but this thread isn't necessarily about judging people for their mechanics-writing skills.
For my own, I'd like to see something like these:
Poisoned Tongue Kabal:
Steel Trap Minds: Lady Malys employs only the most cunning of intellects within the ranks of her sybarites and dracons. Which is good because the Poisoned Tongue is known for fielding such warriors in great numbers. A warlord from a Poisoned Tongue detachment generates one additional warlord trait from either the Strategic or Tactical tables in addition to their normal trait. All kabalite warrior and trueborn squads must purchase a sybarite or dracon respectively.
Craftworld Lilisurya:
Webway Assault: Craftworld Lilisurya is known for a mastery of the webway that rivals the denizens of the dark city. Any troop unit taken as part of a Craftworld Lilisurya detachment may take a webway portal (see: Codex Dark Eldar) for 35 points.

For my custom chaos warband.
Legion of one goal.
Player is able to field all lost and damn units as part of primar detachment except arch demongouage. Enforcers may join only lost and damn units.
Cannot take - demons as allies, malefic demonology and possed units.
This is supposed to reflect that my war-band quite often deploys lost and damn units along their primary forces instead taking them as allies but they tend to stay away from chaos demons.

Blood Angels would get the ability to start rolling for Reserves on Turn 1 on top of granting the +1I of the Baal Strike Force. They would only scatter 1d6 and on the Deep Strike Mishap Table. If they would roll two 6s on the Deep Strike Mishap Table they would come in at their original point (the ability would be called Expert Course Correction). There would be a formation for Dante, one unit of Sanguinary Guard, and a Sanguinary Priest that would be able to charge after Deep Strike instead of shoot.

For my chapter, Hunters of the Fallen
Cut off the head:
Units with this chapter tactics gain the precision shot and precision strike special rules. All precision shots must be allocated first to independent characters, then to characters. In the event of more than one, you may choose whom to allocate to. If a target contains no characters you may allocate precision shots as would normally occur.
For my craftworld, Ishil' Ra
The Fated Moment
Once per game you may nominate up to the current turn number plus 1 number of aspect warrior squads to gain one of the following special rules
-Precision Shots
-Furious Charge
-Hit and Run
-Skyfire
- Zealot
-Adamantium Will
