Hi guys,

I am going to do a Nemesis strike force and had the following painting detail in mind:

Prime Black
Base in Leadbelcher
glaze entire model in GW blue glaze (name is escaping me ATM)
gloss varnish
pin wash blue

Will this turn out to blue? look dumb? Anyone have a better technique?

Don't glaze the entire model with the blue glaze. Use a detail brush to lay the glaze into the details.

It will be very blue.

IF you want you can go back and drybrush back after the glaze then drybrush/highlight higher with that runefang or whatever chainmail is now.

Then do the gloss pin wash with a darker blue ink or wash or even black.

hit it with sateen or matt varnish and i think it would look ok.

It depends on the effect he wants. The painting guide in the old Codex: Daemonhunters suggested glazing the Grey Knights figures with blue ink(?) to give them a slightly bluish look to their metalic armor.

I want to get "the Aegis" effect that you can see on the Dread Knight. I think the easiest way is the glaze and will give it a go on a test mini.

The dry brush after the glaze with the base color might be needed it if is just out of control.

The Power Fist on this Libby dread was washed with the glaze. I think I applied the glaze twice here.

Well, here is the first GK that I finished up. I think I am going to pass on trying to make them have a blue tint as the wash gets lost after using black wash before hand.

It looks good though.
