Hi everyone,

I haven't played in a while and there's a tournament at my FLGS held over a few weeks which is great for me to learn the finer points of the new eldar codex

HQ
farseer, bike, spirit stone of Anath'lan 130 (Warlord)
farseer, bike: 115

Troops
5 windriders, scatter lasers: 135
4 windriders, scatter lasers: 108

Elites:
5 wraithguard, D-scythes: 210
Dedicated transport, Wave serpent: Dual Scatter-lasers, Shurican cannon: 125

Fast attack:
10 Warp spiders: 190
Crimson hunter exarch: 160

Lord of war:
Wraithknight, Wraithcannons, 2 scatter lasers 329

Total: 1500

The plan was to have a farseer in each scatterbike unit, throwing powers and gunning for low AV vehicles and anything they can stay away from.
Wraithguard blow up anything that is especially dangerous, WS delivers them.
Warp spiders hit and run, look for easy targets and ideally get in their back field.
Crimson hunter is AA, plus vehicle if nessecary
Wraithknight is the big distraction unit, blows things up, keeps CC units away from everyone else.

The problem I see is I only have 2 Objective secure units, both have farseers. I'm thinking of cutting down on the Warp spider unit to make room for 2 units of plain jetbikes so they can turbo boost for objectives.

I have no idea what armies I'm up against or what missions, presumably book missions so I'm aiming for a take all comers.

Username was supposed to be 'An amoeba with special needs' in case you were wondering.

At my desk

That is a lovely cheese platter there. Loads of str D and ScatterBikes. Warp spiders are excellent and Crimson Hunter Exarchs are amazing too.

Play that list right and you're bound to win.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I would ignore that last post, (sadly this sort of cheese accusation comes with every eldar list that has wraith units / and / or scatter bikes in it) it's a good list but it will be hard work on you to make work. So it is a brave list!

Why do I say it is hard work? It has a low model / wound count and everything is squishy (except the wraith and the wave serpent) will be hard work to make it work (it will be very unforgiving of mistakes)

For example I took 21 hull points and a wraithlord in my last 1500 list and that included 5 wriathguard!

What I mean is that all their heavy fire is going to go to just two places, all their anti air is going to go to one place and everything else dies to anything, especially if they have "ignores cover".

I think against 6 leman russes this sort of list will struggle.

What is good is that you have MASSIVE mobility (except your wraith units) and what is bad is that if you get caught out once in one turn you could lose 700 points in a turn.

oh I meant to add the WraightKnight - people are (wrongly in my opinion) refusing to let WraithKnights fire more than 2 weapons these days, it is counter intuitive but I would go with a D-sword and shield if you are taking 2 scatter lasers. these seems a backward step but I am not sure it is, the reason is you want the wraithknight to be distraction, if you want a distraction then they will be DESPERATE to bring it down BEFOR it gets into combat and it will have a 5+ invul and 5+ fnp (better than a 4++ invul) and paradoxically because they KNOW you ahave to get it into melee they will prioritise it

Are you serious right now? That is a top tier type eldar list that is most likely going to wreck everyone he plays.

6 leman russ? IG are one of the least competitive armies in the game right now and would be annihilated by the wraithknight alone.

So I am not a huge fan of 2 farseers in a 1500pt game. That second seer on a bike needs to go, IMO. And your wraithknight is only 325 (295 + (15x2(sl))=325).

So that right there adds 119 points to spend on another unit, 2 war walkers or another unit of jetbikes for objective secured.

You also have nothing that is close combat, and I know I will get shredded for this as well, but you could save yourself alot more points by using wraithblades with axes and walking them, or keep your wave serpent, they just have to stand up to a turn of shooting before charging. I have had varying degrees of sucess from the axes, either people focus on them and they get shot a ton, and I fail enough saves that they die, or they get lost in all my other SCARY units and they start wrecking units in close combat. I am just not a fan that your entire army shoots. If you were going to stay with this theme, split the warp spiders up, and add reapers with the extra points from getting rid of the farseer and wraithknight points, this will give you aspect host and +1BS to spiders and reapers.

Take your pain killer next time before you post: what has "IG being competitive" got to do with anything? Please provide any reasonable basis by which a leman russ list must be "competitive" (whatever that means!) to be relevant? All I have to demonstrate is that a line of 6 leman russes would be hard to deal with nothing else gives you grounds to object.

So strike that objection please. Thank you

Also taking (basically) 20 models that have the same stats defensively as marines (or worse) is NOT a strong list, however nimble they are, all that will be left is wraith and 6 wraith units can be dealt with.

Good gaming though guys:-)
