Too bad the dogs couldn't charge turn two - might have been a game changer. You learned a lot - I'm not jazzed about the msu approach.

I play decurion quite regularly with my eldar/tau. I doubt you can beat them without some tailoring. Basicly their 4+ RP make all their units undercosted and all yours overcosted. (Afterall you're paying points to take armour out of the chance equation and they ignore that effect on a 4+). You always play with a handicap vs decurion so you NEED to optimize.

Even warriors have T4 and 4++ in melee. Which means there are very few assault units that wont take hits back. You need TOUGH not killy units. Ideally you want assault units with powerweapons, high strength or 2+ and preferably a combination of two. Thats just for their warriors and immortals (its rediculous). Dont attack the wraiths before you've killed the spyder. You need some sort of alpha strike for that.

Apart from a triptide gunline and an eldar list with 22 D weapon shots Ive never beat a decurion. Seen a unit of banshees with 3 eldar chars draw in combat vs warriors. Go cheese or go home vs decurion.

Daemonkin khorne is weak compare to necrons and Eldars.
But first advice i can give you, is to put all your units on the table for first turn against his army.
Replace CSM with more dogs or a real spawn squad with 5 units and more motos.
Soulgrinder is a good idea.

Thanks for all the reply. I will tailor my list a little bit against this opponent as he want to play competitive. I bought a Soulgrinder last time and I am really happy with it. Well, he didn't do a lot but it was my fault. I also was thinking of changing the Dogs for Spaw. But I liek the Dogs, I might try next time.
I will maybe change the CSM later, but I like to have a squad of them, sure against Necrons and Eldars they might be useless but everytime I played them (with CSM codex) I was really happy. And I was happy about them last game.

Which brings me to that, I played a game last week end and the Battle report is up!

I'm pretty sure you can not assault on turn 1 even if you don't scout. I read your 1st 1500 points vs crons

I confirm, you can assault first turn if you did not scout or infiltrate.

Thanks for the second battle report, a good fight between 2 balanced codex.

You can now, this was changed from 4th edition to 5th iirc, so it's been legal for a few years now. The only exception being if an infiltration or scout move was made, and this only restricts charges on the 1st game turn, so if you go second you can still charge, at least with scout, don't remember the wording on infiltration

It's up to you, but if someone playing Necron told me he wants to play 'competetive' I'd just tell him he wins and walk away. Nowadays I only play decurion with D-spam. Then both of us can just move up 6" each turn and roll dice.

That's why I am actully thinking of putting a Dthirster in my list. It's seems kind of good, I just need to protect him.

Also, in this edition, scouts and infiltraters can't charge First Game Turn, and a Game turn is when both players played. I did the same mistake but last time they told me.

I have a few question of my own:

1- CAD or Slaughtercult? I feel that, if I want to use a Slaughtercult, I need to put as much unit as possible inside to get the benefit (FNP most of the time). By that I means, 10 CSM squad in Rhino, cultist, maybe a big unit of spawn.

2- How do you play the bloodtithe points? Summon, or bonus? In the last game, summon actually help (except the bloodthirster), but the bonus are great too!

3- What is the best weapon for the Soulgrinder? Torrent was good against Reavers but it will not kill eldar jetbikes. Also the bombardment seems good. Now, can the soulgrinder charge after shooting the ordonance weapon? And just to be sure, he can't fire its weapon at diferent target?

I have been thinking of doing a list with 10 Hounds squad with the lord, 2x5 Hounds, 6 bikes with melta and Icon, and 4 Spawn , CSM in rhino and Bloodletters. 2 Maulerfiends and the Soulgrinder. Thats slaughtercult and Gorepack. But, I would like a Dthirster and for this, I will need to take out the spawn and the bige bikes unit. But I was also thinking of putting as maximum unit as I can in the Slaughtercult

In that case, I have a list like this:

Juggerlord, PF/LC, sigil
Min Cultists
Min Possessed
10 CSM in Rhino with Havocs: 2 Melta, CCW and the champion with melta bomb
10 CSM in Rhino with Havocs: 2 Plasma, Boltgun

Gorepack
Bikes, 2 Melta
Bikes, 2 Melta
15 Flesh Hounds
5 Fles Hounds

I really don't know what to do. Any help, adives or tactics are welcome.

Im not that familiar with khorne daemonkin. Necron struggle against T6 and 2+.

I dont know CSM stats. I do know that 10 assault marines will only kill about 1.75 necron warriors average (2.18 /w sarge + pw). The necron will kill about .68 back. Thats not great odds. The 2nd round off combat will be even less in your favour. Also realise you wont outshoot them.
