Has anyone gone up against or used this formation for the Necrons?

I was thinking of taking it to a tournament.

It's a way to save Heavy Support slots. The bonus itself is overall useless.

My friend plays necrons and he likes the S: 10 AP1 Large Blast. It's not the most optimal formation you can take but nothing else in the army brings that much power to the field (other than a C'Tan rolling the D weapon randomly). It being only 1 shot per turn can really hurt though. Come to think of it the Doom Scythe Death ray is the same stats with a small blast. The Doomsday Cannon does have a ridiculously long range though.

Last week I ran against 3 knights. My current list did nothing. I was hoping to add in some bigger guns to help out against things like that in the tournament.
