On a scale from 0-10 Would Give a 3.
Thin your paints, especially the red
You didnt removed all moldlines, See the leg
Diamonds Need a glosscoat
You overpainted on several places, the Brown, the red, te yellow
The yellow needs a wash and Looks of
Drybrushed blade doesnt look Good, so monocolour and Edge Highlight or go he airbrush way.
Bolterholes Need to be drilled out
Helm needs a wash
Gold needs a wash

On a scale of 0 - w@nker I give you a 10!

Honestly, give advice but don't be a complete and utter dick about it. I'd like to see some of your minis winter. Post them up.

I like it, the only thing I'm a little unsure of is the yellow on the sword hilt, though only because it doesn't appear elsewhere. Perhaps a way to counted that is paint the blood drops in yellow too, to tie in in a little more? Alternatively you could point the hilt gold, as it mirrors the location of that colour across the model (left hand, chest, right hand), to achieve a little more balance. Just a suggestion and no offence intended, seemingly unlike other posters!

All in all very nice work

Such an donkeycave winterwind as usual. Take a day off once in a while.

I'm assuming you act this way because irl you've got issues, but no need to ruin others.

I wasn't rating the model, I was rating your level of wankerishness.

Are you claiming to be Mark Carlisle, aka 'Mark of the Dead' ? -> http://www.coolminiornot.com/artist/mark+of+the+dead?browseid=12291071

Here are my 2 cents:

1)I've never cared about drilling out the bolter holes. so, eh
2)I think some edge highlighting would help. Or the thinning of paints. The red just seems really blotchy and bland. It needs something else to break up the color.
3)While not a fan of blue purity seals, I think it works pretty well.
4)I like you bases. Some spots might need a touch up or a little more coverage, but I think they work really well.

Don't worry about posts like winter. Not everyone is a top tier painter and everyone should be able to post and be proud of the work they are able to do.

First off,
Winter, decency is appreciated, and plagiarism is wrong.
Second,
hcordes, I like them. They have solid coverage on the red and the gold is a great complement. My only thing is that on the closeup of the HF guy's chest/helm, you could have cleaned up the gems on the helmet and the chest one.
That is all

Looks pretty solid to me, I like them, maybe it could do with a bit of an edge highlight here and there and maybe some gloss if youre going for a gem effect, but otherwise yeah looking good

Dont listen to Winter, hes pretty rude.

Never cared about the barels being drilled.

never cared for that much gold, a little overwelming mixed with the large amounts of red on the blood angels.

and I think the yellow on the hilt of the sword is kinda out of place IMHO, try (ironically) gold or silver.

I like the purple blood drops, and I also really like the sword itself, looks nice and electric.

Giving criticism is one thing, but being rude about it is another, rule #1 people.

happy wargaming,

I think that you did a solid job overall. I'd feel pretty proud to field a full army painted to this standard. In addition to doing edge highlights and cleaning up the details, you could also look into balancing out the color composition. As it stands now, the colors are all very warm. To balance it out more, try to use some cooler colors that complement the others to accent the model. For example, as much as I do like the purple blood drops, these would be good places to include some cooler colors, without losing the boldness of the red armor plating. Keep up the good work, hcordes.

How... Just how was he being rude? I agree with his concerns, but your second model is spotless!

Yea. I feel the same way too. Winter was blunt, not rude though.
Anyhow, in regards to the model, which should be the focus here, looks not bad. You might want to tidy up your painting and perhaps reduce the number or colours. Seems like too much going around imho. A neat 3-4 colour model sometimes look better unless you can pull it off=) Cheer!

If you and others don't see it then. It wasn't exactly what he said it's HOW he said it. Giving it a rating was NOT needed. CC is what was asked for not a scale from 0-10. His feedback could off came off better by saying you might want to use a few washes etc is certain areas. thin paints. All he did is make a list and tear the OP's work apart. Besides it isn't his first time doing this sort of thing. Keep in mind just because some people didn't see it as rude others may have. A better choice of words may have been used.

Thank you everyone for your replies, i am practicing on thinning my paints, though what tends to end up happening to me is that I never end up with a consistent mix. The sword was a bit of a puzzle and was (sadly) done in haste, My daughter suggested the purple drops, she originally wanted the sword purple as well, but that looked even worse than the green. The handle was meant to look more like bone. needless to say its on the list to go back and clean up.
These are part of a painting challenge ive been working on over the last couple weeks, with about a week and a half left, and i have quite a few more miniatures to paint.

thanks again for the constructive and encouraging words

EDIT: Also please keep in mind that these photos were taken on an iphone and with an ad-hock "studio" certain colors and imperfections can be distorted and/or exaggerated. thanks again guys!

Ok, maybe the 0-10 was not necessary, but it's not so awfully rude that it requires dogpiling the poster. Grow a thicker skin. The recommendations were solid.
