I'm looking at the idea of putting a squad of veterans into my Astra Militarum army as a squad of elite tank hunters.

I want to be able to differentiate between my models of standard guardsmen and my models of veterans. Has anyone got any ideas?

Currently the veterans in my CCS are painted the same as my normal guard but I am looking to change them if i can so they can match my actual veterans

Thanks

Tempestus Scions heads make quick and easy swaps to make them look veteran, either the berets or full helmet/mask ones.

The beret heads look really good with those Company Command Squad gas mask bits attached to the face, in my opinion - might want to try that, too!

There are a few things you can do, but here are my favorites.

Berets - They're good enough for the US, Russian, British and every other country's elite troops and they have been a part of the IG's look since second edition.

Colour schemes - if your army uses a single colour then giving veterans camouflage makes them look very awesome, alternatively a different colour uniform can be all it takes to make them stand out.

Gear - camo cloaks, demolitions gear, heavy armour, shotguns, weapon sights, and other things the rest of your army lacks not only makes it possible to show what doctrines they're using and makes it easy to tell them apart from the rabble and leads to some epic conversions...

Pretty much anything from Mad Robot or Victoria Miniatures will greatly aid the elite veteran look, they have stuff for literally every IG army.

Thanks for sharing! I had never seen Mad Robot or Pig Iron before. So much cool stuff I'll never be able to paint all the amazing stuff I want to build from those sites!
