Hi,
As I want to field an Imperial Guard armoured company, and I want to acquire some Forge World stuff, I thought I could use the Imperial Armour which is intended to do this.
However, I'm not aware of its playability, there is no date, I don't know when it was realised, or if it is "overpowered".
I don't want to play this army to WAAC, it would be mainly for collection, painting, etc...
But if my adversaries complain every time, it will be boring.
So what do you think about this book ?
Thanks again

No it's not over powered. The book is updated for the 6th edition but has the 5th edition Coodex prices on everything.
The way vehicles die in this edition your 245 pts Tanks will melt like ice in summer.
It has a few tricks and can be "broken" when combined with Codex Guard. But nothing on the scale of Eldar.
Oh and has Hydras that Ignore Jink and are closed top! Hilarious!!!

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

I use it for the upgrades. Artificer Hulls. Coaxial Heavy Stubbers. Anti Grenade Mesh.

Fun things.

It's a decent list, but not overpowered (especially compared to GW's newest abominations). The biggest problem is that it often produces all-or-nothing games where either your opponent can handle a ton of AV 14 and massacres you or can't handle lots of tanks and gets massacred. Depending on who you're playing with it can be hard to set up the delicate balance where the game is interesting and doesn't favor either player too heavily.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Beast Hunter Shells on a HQ, BS4 Vanquisher with a co-ax heavy stubber. Glorious!

I love my Thunderers too. Much prefer them to Leman Russ Demolishers. They're what Space Marine Vindicators want to be when they grow up. I like to rumble 3 Thunderers with my FW Stormsword for some nice S10 AP1 devastation

And even better, you still have the standard shells if they've got vehicles along the MC, unless that changed when I wasn't loooking.

The ABG list is definitely showing its age and has problems. First off, the warlord traits are almost all junk:

1. Guaranteed night fight is just not that useful to a ranged guard army. I suppose using russes with searchlights could work well with it though.
2. Outflanking a unit. This is the one I try to get.
3. Stubborn bubble. Would be useful for allied blobs, although you should always get commissars/priests anyway.
4. Extra flat out distance. I prefer to shoot most of the time.
5. Scoring warlord. Warlord already scores.
6. VPs through ramming. You have to give up your shooting for a pretty poor chance of killing with a ram. Also, never really comes up. At least ramming is more powerful than it used to be I suppose.

So, one good trait. Maybe a couple more can be used but they are hardly great. On top of that, most of the russes are more expensive than their codex versions.

The list does have some really good points though:

- Command vanquishers with co-ax and beast hunter shells. These things are not that much more expensive than codex tank commanders in vanquishers, without the need to take a squadron of 2. These things are so good that I once had an entire Tyranid MC list hide behind ruins out of fear. Also, the chance to throw out "reroll successful cover saves" is pretty nice.

- Commissar tanks. A nice way to buff the leadership of nearby units, such as heavy weapon teams. I know HWTs are not great, but getting orders on ld10 can make them somewhat useful.

- Trojans. Pretty cheap unit that can make another unit have preferred enemy. Made of paper though, and need to take an enginseer to get.

- Thunderers, cheap demolisher cannons.

- Demolishers, the only russ to go up in price in the new codex. I guess having old prices can be useful sometimes. I use them with dozer blades myself, which actually come out at the same cost as the codex. Seems more fair to me.

- Russes are troops, so you get objective secured. It will rarely come up I suppose, but it is there.

- Vulture gunships. I know you can take these for IG but having the rules in this book is nice.

- Hydra flak tanks are actually usable! They keep the closed top and the ignore jink rules. The only disadvantage is that they can't go flat out.

- Baneblade 212 "Arethusa", a special character with BS4, pintle heavy bolter and can make one gun a turn twin-linked. All that for only 25pts more than a normal baneblade. Also can be your warlord.

- None of your russes are heavy support, which can be really nice if you play Big Guns Never Tire, as they don't give away VPs.

ABG makes a much better ally than primary. It can get some really powerful tanks into a normal IG list, letting you cherry pick the best options from both. Take a command vanquisher and some demolishers/thunderers. Take other russes from your main CAD. Need AA? Use the allied heavy slot for ones that ignore jink. Or you could use that slot for griffons, meduas and colossus.

The list is definitely showing its age; you can still get a lot of nice things from it though. I would not call it OP, although I suppose some people could object to things like abusing the old chimera costs or taking loads of beast hunter shells. I always make sure to describe those beauties before deployment, as one hitting a MC out of the blue is likely to upset people.

Ok, this is all I need to know.
I don't want to win tournaments with it, but I'm glad to know the ABG still have some tricks.
Thank you, guys
