For the past few months I keep getting blue screen of death surprising I know!

But it has become more and more frequent infact the errors are quite a few, and I think it might have something to do with the ram or the bios. (or some type of corruption)

So I have the following errors

Memory Management
Critical Process died
Kmode- exception- not handled
kernel security check failure
bad pool header
system serviece exception
MSRPC State violation
PFN List corrupt

(And thats about it)

These all come at random times, sometimes they happen because I use google sometimes they happen at random intervals. This has only gotten worse in the past few weeks. And I have run CHKDSK.exe and I keep getting the KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED error.

Anyone have any solutions?

I do have an ASUS motherboard in my computer.

Hard Drive failure imo.
I'd say defintely. You dont get that range of errors with a motherboard (if any) nor GFX card nor RAM?

Might be wrong bit had simlar issues last year and a simple new HD and OP system fixed all.

You have 2 options:

1 Google learn mode:

Google each problem (I.E Memory management error) and read the solutions/causes of each one before acting on any solutions.

2 Pay someone to google learn mode:

Have someone else do this instead.

Here is a solution to your memory management issue, HOWEVER since you list many issues it will pay to check each one first just in case there is solutions that fix multiple issues.

I am not an expert though, but I have fixed issues by simply googling them.

Also chances are you may need to replace your hard drive... if you have a duel hard drive then one may be faulty causing the other one to play up.

Also on the google thingy. I did that suprisingly after wasting a few hours of going through and trying to do it manually. Tried to do it and no change random crashes. And most times I leave my computer on, come back and find that the computer had restarted while I was away.

I had this problem a few months back, the only solution was to replace the hard drive.

I still think its a hard drive fail.

So. If you have the original Windows disk - just put a new hard drive into your unit and use your original operation disk (assuming its a verified microsoft disk).

Even if it isnt - dont worry too much.

1.) Check your RAM by burning an memtest CD or bootable USb stick.. Run it overnight.

Alternately, the Windows Memory Diagnostics is not bad. Again, run it overnight. But I prefer memtest.


2.) If everything is OK there, run the vendor specific hard drive tests for your hard drive; i.e. if it's a Seagate you want to run Seatools, if it's WD you want Data Lifeguard, etc. If the Windows versions crash use the bootable DOS ones. You will want to run a short test, and if it's OK, run the long test.

Let us know if those don't find a problem but pretty sure they will.

Yeah, it boils down to the system doing a checksum on the loaded files and they have changed unexpectedly (or plain do not work) and the operating system is refusing to load them for security / stability reasons.

Possible problems / solutions in a particular order:

Ram flakey / damaged: The various 1's and 0's are not stable or will not switch. Use a boot disk and run something like "memtest86". It may need to run overnight but see if you get errors. Your bios settings may not be ideal for your ram so verify before replacing (not likely unless you recently were poking around inside your computer).

Ram good?? Now we can trust it for stage 2:

Bad hard drive maybe: the various 1's and 0's on the the spinning magnetic media may be writing to some bad surfaces. There are some good drive checker programs. I have recovered many a drive with Spinrite where it checks every "sector" of the drive. Making sure you enable "smartdrive" in the bios, that allows monitoring of the drive and how much error correction it has to do when reading from the drive. Any drive "fixing" software will make notes "not to write here" if finding weak sectors.

Ok, drive is ok? No bad stuff?

Last thing could be a virus that keeps trying to write to important files and the operating system is detecting the changes. Boot from a known good boot disk with anti-virus software to hopefully find and kill anything on the hard drives.

Ok, no nasty bogeymen on the drive?

Do a operating system repair, most can be done booting from the operating DVD... do google searches as recommended on how best to proceed.

Typically, 99% if the system is highly unstable and acting possessed, the hard drive is mechanically failing rather than just the media. Recover what you can to a different drive and try to switch to a new one.

Hope that helps, mostly learned all the hard way.

loads of reasons why - none of them due to you most likely.

What HD are you running? Solid or? And youre running Windows of some version?

Its a gaming computer there is nothing that is already backed up. Apart from a few straw documents but I was planning on throwing them onto a flash drive. (most of my stuff is on google docs anyway.

Well a few months ago my hard drive was corrupted and that is what he did. And he backed it up. By it seems he missed something.

Memory Diagonstic was completed and nothing was found I will do the seagate.com thing next

Also, you need to run memtest overnight. I would definitely allow it to make at least 5 passes or so.

Mechanical drive.

My laptop which is the one I am currently using is a solid state drive.

I ran the memory test the five times so far and used meme test no issues with the ram at all.

Definately going to try the seagate though for the hard drive I am already looking for a replacement as almost every error is pointing to either a corrupted harddrive and/or a failing hard drive. This is probably left over from the previous corruption.

Though I should probably update my bios as they were last updated in October of 2014. (This might be part of the cause)

Don't update your bios.

1.) It's almost certainly not a problem with your bios. Most motherboard bios updates are to address minor issues for the first few months after they are released. I don't know what motherboard you have, but it's clearly from at least October 2014, so well past that. After the first 6 months of release, bios updates generally only come out to add minor new functionality, like updating CPU microcode to allow for newly released CPU's to work (or resolve issues with same).

2.) If your hard drive really is corrupting data, then you might flash a bad bios and make things worse.

Agreed, bios updates are just for better detecting interfacing with new hardware that may have some nonstandard behaviors / setting (drives, ram CPU).

Plus it better be a persuasive reason: any brownout and you may "brick" your motherboard (many have a firmware backup in case of that).

If the disk itself doesn't work for verification, you can call their "verification tech support" or whatever they are called (for those people who dislike verifying things online) and explain the issue that your HDD went caput, you replaced it and are using the original OS disk that you had.

I know basically nothing about computers however, I did have the Blue Screen of Death on my old PC. Don't know what caused it exactly but it was a permanent state that I could do nothing about. However, I was lucky enough to salvage an old office PC from a skip and I slaved my hard drive to the hard drive of this other PC (both used Windows XP as the operating system) and the salvaged hard drive identified various problems and began fixing them. Took nearly two hours for the process to complete but once it was done, I put my hard drive back into the other machine and it all worked fine.

I think everytime I find a software issue I can fix it but I am virtually blind to a hardware issue, especially a blue screen of death issue which I usually don't know much about other than it is a bad sign.

Instability is directly linked to software being "corrupted" where the errors in the code is too much to run properly.

Typically it is from the three ways I outlined of ram, drive or virus.

Poorly installed and uninstalled programs can be an issue with the registry having pointers / paths / links to things not there or unused so many search time-outs or errors happen on load. This is the safer applications of "cleaners" finding entries to things no longer there.

I know my AMD video drivers also add extra fun, if you do not uninstall the old drivers THEN install new, various programs kick out when making a video call it does not like... fun times.

Guess I am saying it could be worse!

Per recommendation I got a new hard drive and started the installation process, I will be installing avast, Malwarebytes, adblock plus, google chrome, and steam.

Should I install the graphics card's stuff?

What should I update?

I will probably update everything on my hard drive, the other hard drive I am going to take to an expert to see what was the actual cause.

I will also being taking suggestions for maintenance to avoid this situation from ever occurring again.

Install any and all drivers you can think of. Don't quote me on this yet, but I think Seagates have been having a lot of problems lately. In think its Seagates, but I could be wrong. They have been corrupting files on the hard drive causing it to crash. My dads computer had it and my brothers server had it.

Have you tried taking a stick of RAM out and seeing how it goes? If it crashes, switch to the other stick of RAM depending on how many DIMMS you're using?
