Hello Dakka Dakka friends,
Sorry if this has already been posted, but I couldn't find it.
It's not much of a big deal, but in the new Space Marine Codex, Terminators are 35pts, while in the Blood Angel Codex they are 40pts. Vanguard power weapons are 5pts in the Space Marine Codex, while they're 15pts in the Bangel Codex.

Just seems like a middle finger to Blood Angels when they had only just brought the points back to being balanced. Any thoughts?

Cheers

This is just the Way of Things for whatever the first SM codex is released in a given codex cycle. Whoever that is (it was Dark Angels last time) gets the shaft.

Yes, it's a middle finger to Blood Angels. That's what you get for not following your spiritual liege.

On the other hand, the points are now closer to being balanced. 35pt Terminators are much closer to being balanced than 40pt Terminators, just as paying 15pts for power weapons when you can take Honour Guard instead is completely pointless.

Yeah, I 100% agree. 35pt termies and 5pt power weapons seems great. Would be cool if Bangels also got those point costs Maybe in the next cycle

What's a bangel?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Nvm.. you mean BloodANGEL.. (For the record I think this sort of acroynm could be more "effecient".. i.e. maybe the 4 extra letters are worth it)

And C:SM terminators get chapter tactics in addition to being cheaper. BA got screwed, simple as that.

5250 pts
3850 pts
Deathwatch: 1500 pts
Imperial Knights: 375 pts
30K 2500 pts

That said, outside of tournament play I think you'd be perfectly within your rights to ask to use the C:SM costs for directly analogous units, and I think most reasonable opponents would be perfectly happy to let you have that.

Nah, capitalisation is all you need - its perfectly clear when you write it 'BAngel'.

That said, its just the process - I'm sure that BAngel termies will drop to 35 pts in the next BAngel book.

Spending 5 minutes releasing a FAQ is just far too much effort for GW. Either that, or GW is worried that releasing a FAQ would be an admission that GW didn't get things right the first time round.

I read this wrong and some foolish hope rose inside of me that Space Marine Tactical squads were dropped in price to 10$ or something. Much derp and disappoint on my part.

Space Wolf Termies are 33 points and you can take them in three's and they get those cool Storm Shields for free, YAY! Do us Space Vikings win the points race?

What's funny is that the two things I think of when I think cheap Bangles are...

I think Space Marines are pricier than either!

Unless we're talking ebay.
