This is my first army list that I had planned out to start building into. HQ: Hive Tyrant x1 Heavy Venom Cannon Wings Troops: Hormagaunts x10 Scything Talons Adrenal Glands Termagaunts x10 Spike Rifle Adrenal Glands Tyranid Warriors x3 One with Devourer and Lashwhip & Bonesword, other two with Devourer and Rendering Claws. Total: 470 pts I'm part of a small playgroup. One of the guys is also new to 40k like me, while the others have been playing for around 4-5 years now. Everyone is starting a new army and we plan to have a game in December. I am anticipating that there will be a lot of infantry and very little to none vehicles. One plays Chaos Space Marines, one plays Astra Militarum, but I am not sure about the others. Any suggestions or changes for my current list ? All feedback is appreciated, I'm still new to the game so I'm not too sure what units I should run in my list.

Like I said in the other thread the biggest issue is going to be your synapse web. Expect your warriors to be targeted immediately. Your Flyrant will be off zipping around the board, so make use of Dominion to keep his Synapse range large to keep the other units under your control. THAT being said, bringing an FMC to a 500 point game is sort of a dick move. Despite the likelyhood that you will loose everything else the moment your warriors die, your flyrant will be basically unkillable because nobody in a 500 pt game has the points to bring skyfire. The real issue with nids in the low point game isn't so much a question of whether or not your being super competitive and more that every match degrades into them targeting your synapse unit because why wouldn't they? It's a fight that gets old fast. Also, throw tl devourers with brain leach worms on the flyrant. There is really no reason not to.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Alright, took your advice and changed my list mostly.
HQ:
Tyranid Prime
Adrenal Glands
Deathspitter
Scything Talons
Elites:
Zoanthrope x2
Troops:
Fleshborer Termagants x10
Tyranid Warriors x3
2 with Deathsplitter and Scything Talons, one with Devourer and Lashwhip & Boneswords
Fast Attack:
Gargoyles x10
Adrenal Glands
Blinding Venom
Fleshborer
I added more Synapse units to hopefully improve the web. I didn't add any Carnifexes as they got "banned" from our upcoming game.

Banned Carnifexes? So bring a mawloc. From what I understand Dakkafexen are only "mildly" competitive, and Mellefexen are "meh". Also I think the general agreement is the Prime is bad for business, but I like them. Just seems a strange thing to ban I guess. What else was "banned"?

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!" —Jago Sevatarion

We are still deciding on what is allowed, just no cheese units or lists. I like the idea of a Mawloc, but I'm not sure what I should remove. I do want to keep the Gargoyles, however should I remove them with the Zoaths ?

In a 500 point game I think a Prime will work great. That list is MUCH better I think.
The prime can make the warriors better with the Zoanthropes being a good durable unit and give your some psychic umph.
I would consider taking the Zoan as 2 separate units. For a few reasons 1) because it will force your opponent to split his attacks between multiple units 2) because you will double your psychic dice each turn 3) because then you will have 3-4 sources of synapse running around the table with all your little nids.
IF you have the points (doubt you do) the prime works well with the Miasma Cannon. If not it's such a low point game you should do fine.

Yes they are separate. I'm gonna go with the current list. Thanks !
