Okay, this may be somewhat blasphemous, but what with the excitement over the new Dark Angels codex coming out I got to looking at the Fallen Champions rules. I was thinking about how it might be possible to use the Fallen Champions formation as a Come the Apocalypse ally with Dark Angels to represent a Fallen army.

I know that the rules for Cypher as an individual HQ state that he cannot be included in an army that includes any models from Codex: Dark Angels. However, that is listed for Cypher as an individual HQ that could be included in armies like Sisters, BA, CSM, GK, IG, Inquisitor, SM, or SW. With the Fallen Champions formation, he's the HQ of that formation itself - consequently, I'm wondering if that restriction doesn't apply.

I'm assuming it must, because if you were able to run Fallen Champions as allies for a DA army - even with the Come the Apocalypse rules - there are some goofy things you could do.
- It would give all your DA Inner Circle models Zealot
- If Cypher survives the battle you get D3 Victory Points
- If you can keep the DA within 12" Cypher (but >6" away from to keep from suffering from One Eye Open), they get to use his leadership

I'm assuming you can't do this, but has anyone else thought about it?

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Is Cypher part of the Fallen Champions formation?

Can you use Cypher in an army that includes Dark Angels models?

Hm. Yeah, re-reading that, I guess you're right. Doesn't look like there's a way to do it.

I have Cyphur model and his stats from several codex back - I keep taping the stats into the new codex as they come out. I figure I will use him as Company Master
per DA codex (with his Cyphur stats), which would change my DA force to Fallen should I play another DA player just to mess with them, using the DA Codex straight up.
Actually working him in as a sideboard deal in an upcoming tournament should I end up against another DA player. If this Fallen Champs deal is in Chaos codex I will
have to check it out. The DA Codex keeps mentioning him but no new stats since about 3-4 codex back, so I go with the ancient stats - he is mysterious, after all, and
probably the Lion. Either way, a rebel which fits what I do.

yes you can, but your army is then considered unbound. thats based on the current edition of cypher's rules. i cite the limited edition hardcopy printed rules that come with the LE.

edit your going to need to zoom in there, but the rules saying he cant join dark angels only apply to a battle forged army, so taking him makes your force automatically unbound

id also like to point out that if you do this you can take his as a dark angel and thus benefit from friendly spells, and ride in friendly transports and join friendly squads. deathwing knights with cypher definetely is a thing and thats a very powerful team to go (war) clubbin

Yeah he's definitely not the Lion.

And no one knows if he's a rebel or not.
