Would it be a good tactic to fill all the troop slots with Engineers+HBD?
It could work like drop pod assault? (STEEL REHN)
Plus the drill has the Melta-Cutter for anti-tank (as well as a S10 ram that auto hits buildings)
It can also emerge underneath cover (and thus destroys it making ADL/Void Shield Generator players cry) and if it emerges from underneath a unit, the unit takes a S10 AP1 melta hit AND forces the unit to move 1" away from it (if only engineers could have flamers...)
Add some artillery at the back (plus the HQ) (or a Squadron of Leman Russ Punishers)

As far as I'm concerned, it's an excellent idea. It looks badass and actually does decent work.

One small problem: if you take the drill the squad moves to elites.

Also, you have very old rules for the drill and you need to get the new ones. Once you do you'll be much less impressed by it.

I was going to say, I knew there was a reason I sold my army lol. They hit the drills with the nerf hammer so bad its ridiculous.

I saw this type of list in action only a single time before the nerf. Was also the first time I saw a DKK army too. It was just nasty on a level that I would never have expected from something labeled as IG.

Unfortunately that was then the nerf has since relegated the poor hades to a display piece from what I've heard

Looking at the rules now. Yeah they make the unit elites so now you have to do CAD shenanigans to get more than three.

No longer comes in automatically on turn 2 and is subject to normal reserves rules.

3" blast template, roll to scatter. If clear no problem, if you hit something then the unit suffers a tank shock or ram attack.Hits with S8 ap1 melta. Units take d3 ap2 hits +usual tank shock effects.

If it destroys enough that the drill can be placed without being 1" from an enemy model then no problem. If not it suffers a deep strike mishap at -2. If a deep strike mishap destroys it then its follow on unit is destroyed.

So its not the most effect unit for its point cost. I recommend downloading the free updated rules for it.

Pretty much everything is changed.

They still need to FAQ the rules because RAW means that the drill, even though it's T7 with several wounds, is T3 due to majority toughness rules. It's listed as "Infantry" and attached to a unit.

However if you manage to get RAI working, or let the other players assume it works how it's meant to work, I think it's quite effective. Maybe even too powerful as it delivers a lot of high strength hammer of wrath hits to whatever the squad charges.
