Witchfires suck, and they suck for a couple of reasons, the biggest of which is that you need to roll to hit after manifesting them as powers which can be more easily denied that blessings. Plenty of witchfires already hit automatically, like beams and novas. Why not?

Would probably require some slight redesign, since some powers - Phantasmancy's Shards of Light comes to mind - seem to be designed around the idea that not every shot will hit. On the other hand, others - the Maleceptor's Psychic Overload, for chaos' sake - seem to be designed around an auto-hit.
The whole thing is pretty witchety.

At first glance I think you make some good points here.
I wonder if some powers might not get really powerful if you don't roll to hit, though? Like those ones with multiple shots would need to roll to see how many hits they generate instead of just all the shots hitting automatically, for example.

As far as I'm concerned (and unfortunately nobody in either of my groups agree with this interpretation) - the only Witchfires that need to roll To Hit, are those with an actual profile (unless it is a blast or template of course).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
