I have an idea for a list that I would like to run but it probably stinks. Please look at from a competitive standpoint:

CAD:
Cato Sicarius
5x Tac + Melta + Pod
5x Tac + Melta + Pod

1st Company:
10x CC Termies + 5x TH/SS
5x Sternguard + 3x Combis + Pod w/ Locator Beacon
5x Sternguard + 3x Combis + Pod w/ Locator Beacon

Skyhammer Assault Force
5x Devs + 4x MMs + Pod w/ Locator Beacon
5x Devs + 4x MMs + Pod w/ Locator Beacon
10x ASM + 2x Flamers + Melta Bombs
10x ASM + 2x Flamers + Melta Bombs

=1845

So I think I over did the locator beacons as I have pretty good control over timing and placement of the drop pods although they will really help the terminators drop accurately which is important due to its large foot print. The number of special rules and re-rolls is staggering. I have not memorized them all yet.

I could min max the list by reducing or eliminating all the locator beacons and shaving back the number of terminators to make room for something (not sure what though)

I don't play in tournaments but I do play against tournament level lists at times. Help please!

Not sure if Cato is worth it in this list. You could switch him for Tigurius and keep most of what you were looking for a.k.a Reserves manipulation and force multiplier. You would also gain cool psychic buffs and defense.

For the most part you hit like a ton of bricks, but you lack any ability to counter a list that can null deploy vs you. Also in the mirror if you don't go first that is very very very bad. I would also think Msu is going to give you fits.

What format is this list for?

If I were to run sky hammer it would be with grav devs split into 4 5 mans units with 2 gravs in each or 2 with 5 gravs to instantly kill 2 units while you have the bolter squads shoot at what you plan on charging with the assault squads.

I'm a bit old school and refuse to run cents. Thanks for the good advice though.

This list should be ITC complient but does not have to be. Just so long as it is not unbound.

I agree with the poster that said Cato may not be worth it. Tiggy is an option. What about helbrecht? He looks fun.

Doesn't Cato and Tigurius only give reserve manipulation for their detachments? Wouldn't work in a list with formstions outside of gladius, if that is the case.

I think I am going to drop all of the locator beacons and bring the number of TH/SS in the termie squad up to 9. Ultimate destruction or waste of points?

You need something to complement the army, for example you have your big drop in then you kind of peter out. You also really really lack staying power as well.

Well i do not want to make target prioritization easy by adding tanks. Since my force is so aggressive, whirlwinds and vindis are dangerous to my own models. Predators are ok but, again, makes target priority easy.

Deathwind launchers may help increase the later round dangers but they are on very fragile platforms (Dop pods).

Thunder fire cannons could would and at least would have bolstered defenses.

All if this would require I lose one of the formations or, otherwise, strip them down to the point of inefficacy.

I'm starting to think this list is gimmicky and may not be truly competitive.

Honestly I don't think it Is very competitive. Just thinking about how you beat most of the lists my friends run, I don't think you do. I'm not sure pure podding armies can work with so many good ways to null deploy . You also struggle to play most of the major mission packets.

look at replacing the cad with a white scars 10th company formation with all scout bikes. Booby traps, infiltrate + scout, 2+ jink and locator beacons on the sergeants. grenade launchers
