Hi Guys,
Any suggestions as to how to store and transport the Space Hulk models?

I usually magetise bases and put the models in tins. The bases of these models are too thin for magnets.

The foam army case type things don't seem to be a brilliant way of protecting the modelss because of all the breakable extremities.

How do you store/transport your Space Hulk models?

You could try magnetic strip / sheet:

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

If you buy a foam case from KR Multicase, you can buy what they call "pick and pluck" foam layers of various depths, where you make your own slots by tearing out pieces. I used this for the recent Skitari releases (and they are like tiny plastic spiders), and it worked really well, protected them on an extended train journey!

The new GW cases (the ones with zigzag foam) work just fine with Space Hulk models. I've actually transported the whole set of them to play at a friend's house.

There is a custom foam insert for the original box somewhere, I'll try to find it

I haven't finished building mine yet. But instead of putting magnets on the bases, why not put magnets in the box and put metal strips on the bottom of the models?

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have tried putting magnetic sheets to line cases and/or on the base of models but the pull isn't stong enough for transporting models. The strips are great for making flexible movement strips for my Green Tide!

I though about the plucakble foam, but all the models see such different shapes I have this nightmare about not finding the hole which had been plucked for each model.

I will look at the zig zag foam and the original set foam. I also thought perhaps I could drill a 3mm hole in the base, squeeze the magnet into the whole and cover the top in green stuff/debris.

Try thin sheet metal on the model rather than magnetic strips. Place a rare earth magnet in your existing tray and then put the model on top of that. The magnet will induce magnetism in the metal sheets and make a lot stronger bond than magnetic strips (or at least any magnetic strip I've tried).
