Sacrifice to the Dark Gods

First post here.
Hello to everyone!
I am just looking to get back into the hobby with the "death" of WFB. I have always loved the night lords, but it seems chaos marines are virtually unplayable for a newb like me. So, I want to build a Night Lords army but use marine rules. I was thinking Dark Angles would be a good rule set for them. So, two questions.
Would most people have a problem with me doing this, or would they be cool with it?
Does the Dark Angle rule set best fit want I want or is their another marine codex I should use?
Thanks,
Glu

I would use the Carcharodons chapter tactics from Forge World. It seems most Night Lord like. They are all about the shock and terror.
You can read about them here: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Carcharodons
Here are their rules from Forge World:

Plus, what's cooler than Space Sharks? Nothing.

I don't think anyone would have any problems with you doing a "counts-as" Marines army at all. Just make sure the kit is identifiable for your opponent's sake.
You could use either Dark Angels, White Scars, or Ravenguard for Night Lords. I think any of those would fit for what you want. Just beware that competitively the Ravenguard got the shaft with their new Chapter Tactics.

Carcharadons or White Scars. Even jump pack white scars are better than Raven guard; you don't know how good hit and run is until you use it to regain charge bonuses.
If they ever fix korvydae, maybe use Raven Guard. But until then...

I have a very similar idea, but using Raven Guard chapter tactics.
Almost like old school stealth adept, and a better chance of actually night fighting? And drop pods? Pretty close to how I would want to play them!

Dang, thanks for all the responses. I will check out the Ravenguard and White Scars rules and see which one fits the theme the best.
Thanks again!
