The player whose turn it is picks a unit to attack with, then the opposing player must attack with a unit, and so on until all eligible units on both sides have attacked once each.
I thought it was pretty straight forward, but most battle reports I've seen seem to be playing it differently.
I had a game last night (surprisingly a lot of fun), where it was my opponent's turn and there were 2 combats going on. He charged my RxBmen with his Chariots, and he charged my Hydra with his Tomb King.
Since it was his turn, he decided to attack with his Tomb King first. Now it's my turn to attack with a unit, so I selected my RxBmen to attack his Chariots, since the Chariots had not attacked yet. Then he chose his Chariots to attack. Lastly, I finally retaliated with my Hydra on his Tomb King.
Is that right?
I see people playing it like 8th, where in the above scenario I would have had to attack with my Hydra since my opponent chose that combat first. However, that seems wrong going by the rules.

I agree with you. It seems pretty straightforward to me as well. We played our first game last night, and resolved combat order the way you described. I thought it added another layer of strategy to the game.

I agree, we liked that change. It forced some tough decisions later on with my Hydra since it loses attacks as it gets injured (another positive change imo).

I have also played it like described, player who's turn it is chooses first unit to attack with(unit A), then the other player can choose any of his units that are in combat, so on and so forth. Doesn't have to be the same combat as player 1 chose.
As already stated, it makes for some tactical choices.

Yes.
Player whose turn it is picks a unit and fights.
Other player picks any of their units and fights.
Repeat until all units in combat have fought.

You're playing it right and this is one of the most fun and strategic parts of the game. I really like it :-)

Indeed. Most of the time, in fact, it's best to jump to another combat rather than 'attack back' - because if A is fighting X and B is fighting Y, if your opponent resolves A first, then you should probably fight with Y - X isn't going to take any more punishment between now and whenever it's going to fight, but if you thump B heavily before it fights, Y will take less damage.
Obviously in a many-on-many brawl the choices become more complex....

Yep, you are doing it right, and I agree, it really adds some strategy at times as to how you pick your fights.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.
