Compared to Mister Color and Lifecolor they really smell odd , thou... But When I noticed this written on my Tamiya jars, well I dont know how to comment this. I'm just scared, because my Dad and Grandad both died from cancer.

But I think I'm gonna be OK, since I dont live in California.

The state of California has such strict guidelines for what causes cancer it seems like almost everything causes cancer. I seriously wonder if companies don't put a California cancer warning on things 'just in case'.

If you are worried, refrain from licking your brushes.

Everything in the state of California causes cancer, right down to the air you breath and the water you drink.

If you're scared of any paint, just don't inhale (airbrush) it or eat it.
Cigarettes cause cancer, but having one on a shelf can't in itself kill you.

Something to keep in mind is if you airbrush or tend to get paint in your mouth do not use paints containing cadmium.

I never got a straight answer from GW so I avoid airbrushing most paints that do not list their ingredients.
Here are a few more details on toxicity in paint pigments:

Glues also have some nice solvent properties.

It all boils down to: Don't eat it, don't breath it in, limit skin exposure "just in case".

Tamiya paints smell funny because they're alcohol based instead of water based.

Cool I think they use different alcohols for colors cause red smells is different than black
Im hairbrushing, I dont airbrush, cause I dont have airbrush, so I dont know if the smell only can damage me.

It's all the organic food and whiny tumblr posts. Makes them weak. Every now and then you need to huff some resin or drink some floor polish to build up your immunity; kind of like in The Princess Bride.

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.

There's a vast array of stuff in everyday life that CAN cause cancer... in ridiculously high concentrations. California law states each and every one of these requires a warning label.

So do some research and see if you can't dig up the studies on why any given product is considered carcinogenic, who ran the tests, and just how high of a dosage was required for it to cause cancer in the first place. Then compare that to the likely dose from your casual use of the product, and determine what your own risk is.

Most of the time it's far less than you would expect.

It's NOT just the alcohol carrier. Some pigments also reek compared to others. Blues and yellows are renowned for it - especially with the acrylics. Red just smells of death. Blues and yellows tend towards putrefaction and voided bowels.

I've got a pot of the old GW dark green wash, thraka green I think it's called, and I'm fairly certain that there's something dead in it. I try to only use it if it's srs.

Yeah, the old washes (badab black, etc) also tended to reek.
