I'm nitpicking but -
Having no army left *on the table*.
You can still table somebody if they still have stuff in reserve.

You have cleared the table of enemy units. So whether there were any left in reserve is of no consequence, there are no enemies on the table.
In either event, you win the game.

It means that your opponent did not have any models on the board at the end of a turn.

Typically when my friends and I play - we don't actually proceed with the tabling. If there are only scraps left against an army 10 times it's size we call it and spare the humiliation.

I like to play until the end if I look like I'm going to be tabled - see how many of the opponents models I can take down with me. Plus the whole honour thing if playing BA.

Well getting tables sucks. Especially when the only thing you have left are some scout squads against a bunch of moron-mines and flying hive-tyrants everywhere. grumblegrumblestillnotoverit...

I'm going to give you the exact meaning, which has not yet been given (somehow)....
To "table" someone means that you achieve a victory by the method in which your opponent had no models remaining on the battlefield (the "table") by the end of a game turn.
Note, it is possible to "table" someone even if they have models remaining in reserve. For example, say your opponent kept all but one unit in Reserves at the start of the game, and then none showed up in their second turn, but you killed all their models on the table before the end of each player's second turn. That instantly qualifies you for victory by "tabling".

That is ofc up to the guy thats losing! If you want to stick it out we are totally cool with that too! Usually wed rather start another game though.

Yeh it does depend how far in the game is. If in the 1st turn you lose 2/3's of your army before you have moved, there is little point in continuing and at that point you will easily have enough tine for another battle. But if its 3 or 4 turns in and your opponent has half their army left and you have 2 squads left about to charge their lines with absolutely no chance of changing the result - by The Emperor I will charge!!!!!
Saying that I once had a scout squad with mbs on the sarge and lemartes with 1 DC member take out a Dreadnought, a pod, a wave serpent, a fire dragon squad and damaged another serpent, with a touch of help from LoS blocking cover. Still lost, but damn it was worth it! Edit: oh and a guardian squad.

I feel kinda bad. When I'm personally not doing well (though I don't think I've ever been tabled), I usually end up calling it if I know I can't win. (I'll play out the possible scenarios in my head, and if it's not possible to do anything, I'll make the call). But, if I'm about to table someone, I usually prefer to keep playing (I know, selfish of me), and a lot of my friends have the same mindset of "seeing if they can do something awesome before they die".

To table someone means to cause all of their models to be removed as casualties and taken off the tabletop board.
