Waaagh! Ork Warboss on Warbike

Waiting at the Dark Tower steps..

Hey guys!

So I got Ghazghkull thraka today and I was thinking of good ways to use him when I realized that *maybe* you can take him a ork warband formation which as we all know gives some awesome special rules mainly Waaaagh! every turn... Now my question is If I could use Ghaz as my warlord/warboss for the formation BECAUSE not only is that absurdly cheap for him (2++ Every turn after the first! And meganobz can run!) but also he has "prophet of the Waaagh" warlord trait meaning the whole damn army is FEARLESS!

I looked at this and starred in awe... so decided to see if I could "legally" do this which I think not just because I feel like I may have missed something so turning to you guys for help.

Let me know!

Thanks

The Warband formation specifies the exact models to use. Ghazzy isn't one of them. The Warband is led by a generic Warboss HQ unit not a Lord of War unit which is what Ghazzy is. There's only one formation I know of that has Ghazzy in it and that's the Council of Waaaaaaagh! Other then that he only fits in CAD's that allow a Lord of War option (this includes the Ork versions of CADs found in their Dex and Supplement).

Just a clarification, but there is only one Combined Arms Detachment in the game and that's found in the main rulebook. It is a specific type of a Detachment, just like the Ork Horde Detachment is a specific type of Detachment. It is not a type of Combined Arms Detachment.

I stated them as Orky versions of CADs for the sake of simplicity since that's what they boil down to no matter how fluffy you make the name. Saves time and space rather then searching every source book for their fluffy names just to answer a simple question. But since you wanted your +1 I might as well follow suit and get another +1 in this thread as well.

And what happens if he were to go to a tournament that only allows a CAD and he shows up with an Ork Horde Detachment thinking it was a CAD? Its better to use the proper names instead of trying to 'simplify things' and causing more confusion.

If you're looking to save time and space and effort, what's wrong with just saying that they're Ork detachments?

More correct, more specific, and less confusing for newer players. We have enough posts on Dakka of people who can't wrap their heads around formations and detachments already...

Its all good guys I know its a formation! But yeah after reviewing it you need a generic warboss. (Thank god GW caught that) But thanks for clarification.
