Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

I had this question, since i have become disillusioned with kdk I realized that i should go back to my nurgle marines, but the thing that always struck me was what my chaos lord should be kited out with? My two main builds were the burning brand of skalathrax, bike, power fist, sigil of corruption and mon or mon terminator armour with dual lighting claws, sigil of corruption, palanquin of nurgle, and meltabombs. thats what i thought about the potential combos for the mark of Nurgle lord, what are your guys' loud-outs and what do you prefer?

Eye of Terror

MoN Biker Lord for the mobility. It's absolutely essential to get him into combat. Just surround him with other bikers or spawn for reliable results.

You can't take a palanquin if your lord has termi armour. I'd go for the biker lord anyway though.

Always bikes for HQs, terminator armor is far too slow. You need to either buy a LR or DS in terminator armor, and then invest in a decent retinue to get where you need to be.

This is exactly why I stopped using Typhus who is definitely my favorite named character in 40K. Bike benefits out wight TDA benefits. Especially with the Daemonheart Relic.

That's true, but you could take the crimson slaughter daemonheart to get the palanquin and still benefit from a 2+ save and it will not die. It would even be cheaper than terminator armour. You'd miss the 5++, but that's hardly saying much.
It doesn't solve the problem of getting him into combat though. Also he would still be more vulnerable to instant death than the biker lord.

If you want to use the palaquin I'd go for a sorcerer instead and hope for good rolls on biomancy. You'd get force and still have more wounds than the lord. But I don't see the palanquin making any sense save perhaps for fluff or taking a dreadclaw with other tough guys. They should be able to tank quite a few hits.

Overall, Biker lord/sorc with brand works pretty well. Powerfist/claw combo works well with MoN too, there 's really not much point in taking 2 claws unless you need the points. Especially if you take melta bombs. It's 15 points more for several more attacks vs tanks/MC and optionally instant death AP2 vs everything else. I'd say that's worth 15 points.

I've had some success with a MoN biker sorc lvl4 with the Black Legion relic. Especially if they're playing to MSU. Combat squadding only doubles it's effectiveness and a squad of toughness 6 bikers makes for pretty good bodyguards.

Also, I haven't tried this yet but, I imagine a biker lord with spineshiver instead of dual claws and the skull of ker'ngar would be pretty nasty. Thats a T6 I6 eternal warrior with +d6 AP3 attacks, a tough nut to crack. Back that unit up with the "Vessel of dhornurgh the reborn" legacy and him and his biker buddies all get rending in close combat and fear from the banner. Suddenly nurgle is giving khorne a run for his money. And if you going against marines, any of the Black Legion warlord traits will be good. You might even still end up with a flamer. I'ts not as good as brand ofc, but hey. Otherwise you could still get instant death or it will not die (and the flamer). Of course the only thing we have that could keep up with the bikers and still do something is a sicaran or our flyers, so maybe that's not the best idea. But I'd like to try it one of these days. Now if only we could give our apostles bikes .... I wonder what would happen if the thing buffing them is a chaos achilles lol. Or a proteus with unnameable horror just for gaks n giggles

If you figure out how to get him into melee, a lord with daemonheart, palanquin and slaughter's horns could do some damage too, that's 5 wounds! ,2+ save and it will not die, along with rage and furious charge, that's pretty tough and with PF/LC that's still 6 attacks on the charge with a 5S claw. This would be nice if your feeling lucky with the boons. They would have more weight to them imho. Getting potentially 4 wounds back from bloated would be amazing.or just 1 strength would result in a S10 fist which is an easy choice with that many wounds and toughness. or feel no pain with 5 wounds and it will not die mmmhh.

With regards to the spineshiver lord. Our new knights move 12 inch for being superheavies if I'm not mistaken, so you take a knight and walk up with the bikes. Anyhting spineshiver and rending can't deal with, the knight can get rid of. And at the very least, the thermal cannon can crack any ttransport they bump into.

Take both! That's my plan. We even equipped our Bike Lords almost identically.

I went with an LC and GoM instead of a PF. I'm hoping that he can grab a str boiat from the gifts. I was also toying with the idea of putting an Apostle on a bike and sticking the two HQs together in a bike squad for rerolls on the GoM, plus all that hatredy goodness.

Gets along better with animals... Go figure.

That would be nice, except that the apostle (or warpsmith) can't actually use bikes.

Can't even use Terminator armor. Here's hoping they get a massive boost, but I'm somehow doubting it,

A Biker Lord is more mobile as a whole, even though his retinues are less killy somewhat (that can be debated). If you want a Terminator, might as well pay for Typhus. For the extra points, he gives warp charges, a better weapon than a Power Fist (debatable), and access to Zombies to stick in cover for camping objectives. His stock Warlord trait sucks, but oh well.

Everywhere at once..

A termi Iord with Mon, a termi sorcerer with Mon and a x5 termi squad with Mon can be very powerful if your sorcerer roles on biomancy and gets endurance. 2+ armour and 4+ fnp on toughness 5 guys is pretty fun.

I am changed . . . an outcast now.
