Here's my first crack at a Stealer for Space Hulk. Comments and criticisms welcome! I'd rather have them now than after I've painted a bunch of them

EDIT: I discovered photographing it in front of a darker background gives a better representation of the colours, so here's another image.

Looks great! I'd love to play space hulk with a bunch painted so nicely.

Interesting choice of colours...

The carapace looks a little flat - could possibly use an extra highlight just to make it pop a little more.

The claws look excellent.

I like it, but I think the joints/openings could be a different colour - might also solve the flatness insaniak notes.

No idea how I am going to paint my stealers yet :/

Could definitely go for a slightly brighter highlight. I suppose I could also go the other way and make the shades on the carapace something closer to pure black to add more contrast against the reasonably bright flesh.

What colour would you make them? Maybe the same colour but just a bit darker for more contrast?

Those bits were actually done with a thinned down Olive Drab. For the skin I was using a red-brown for shading through the airbrush, but then to mix it up and add some depth I decided to also hairy brush shade it with Olive Drab, I wasn't planning on painting those joints/exposed areas in the same colour, but since I had it on my brush I just gave it a try and thought it looked okay, but maybe could be a bit darker by adding a touch of black in to the Olive Drab?

Originally I was planning on using a darkened burnt umber on the joints.

Yeah darker would be good, or maybe even just a red wash? Bloodletters Glaze maybe? Given their colour you could even maybe use a blue wash. Just something to differentiate without becoming a focal point.
