I get there are probably a fair few posts on this sort of thing now, but please understand i have eye sight issues when reading a lot on a screen.
i cannot sift through pages and pages hoping to find answers to my specific questions. please be kind.
i was reading just before some statemnts made by a GW rep on AoS.
he said that there are new races and core models coming out that will make the old ones obsolete.
his example was ooruks over orks.
i have not yet been able to look over the rules, but from what i have heard all armies have silly rules to make the old models less appealing.
i have amassed a small number of Warriors of chaos.
i have some knights and some warriors, i am now worried those models will be useless.
i am unsure as to what my next turn should be with the hobby, so i have some questions i would like to ask below.
-- what damage has GW done to the old core models with the WoC?
will they be phasing out the old units like they are orks? or have they survived somewhat.
and if they are to what extent can i use my old models.
-- i saw on the GW site they have merged races into 4 major factions.
this looks cool, does that mean i can field demons alongside my warriors?
is there much limit on this?
-- will i still be able to field theme armies? i was planning on building a pure khorne based force, is this still possible/viable under the new rules system?
or will i suffer for it.
------------------------------------------------------------------
those are my questions, the hobby has always appealed to me, and i still want to get into it.
i dont like the look of 40k i prefer the feel of fantasy.
i hope that AoS can make a worthy successor to fantasy.
it seems more easy for new players like myself to get into as points are not too much of an issue now,
so i can come and play with the small force i have.

1. We don't know; rumors have it that AoS's actual warscrolls (current ones are mostly likely on the way out since Orruks aren't Orks, Aelfs aren't Elves, etc.). It also has it that all current WHFB lines will be gradually replaced by new ones. There seem to be a scale issue as the old and new models (judging from the AoS starter set) aren't on the same scale. Other than that... the weapons composition for AoS seem to be the same as their WHFB counterparts. So unless you really can't stand off scale WoCs you shouldn't 't have much problems. 2. I don't recall reading a clause in the new ruleset that you army must be from a single faction, let along across army warscrolls. So yes, you can bring beastmen, Skaven, WoC and CD together in an army, and even skeletons and VC if you wish. 3. Yes. If anything, you can field any army you like.

Your existing WHFB models are perfectly fine for AoS. You can take a look at the warscrolls for them, which are available as free pdfs from GW. If you are interested in Khorne models, I'd encourage you to take a look at the Chaos models that come with the AoS box set. You will probably see boxes split up and each faction sold separately on ebay pretty soon. Might be worth considering! The models are really lovely and are surely very Khorne-tastic.

i have seen those, the trailer makes them look really good.
the price is really good too.
ill be laybying a set when i can afford to.
unfortunately there is not a huge fantasy base here, and even less interested in AoS.
people really are not liking it.

I put my new Blood Warriors up against Chaos Chosen models. They're the exact same size. Also smaller than Skullreapers. The different scale argument can be put to rest.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I must have confused the scale of the Stormsomthin' with the Chaos Warriors. Well there you go -- I was already planning to start a small Khorne Beserker list for 40K and a Khorne whatever they are called now in AoS list for whichever version of Warhammer those I know plays right now, with just Chaos Warriors models. I had gotten myself a box of the old beserker already, it's now even easier -- no awkwardly smaller models, the new ones also looks better, in many ways.

Fantasy Chosen, that is. I haven't checked them against 40k Chosen from DV.

The new models are taller, I think. I couldn't compare them directly with old warriors of chaos, but a lothern sea guard, including the helmet, only reaches the new warriors' shoulder line.
