Well, looks like we won't be able to make it to Historicon. So, we are going to have a "We can't go to Historicon sale!" Everything on the site will be 20% off with code "noshow15" We don't have a lot of sales, so take advantage! Sale good until midnight Sunday the19th!

You make scifi minis.. why on earth would you want to go there? If the grognards at TMP are any indication of the HMGS East membership, they're downright hostile to anything but historicals. One guy barely tolerates 10% non-historical stuff regardless of how it affects the con.

Have you every been to a HMGS convention. the interests of the participants vary greatly and although you'll find the occasional "historical' only guy in my experience there are many who also enjoy Sci fi and fantasy who attend the show.

as to the op. thanks for the heads up about the sale. you make some really nice models and I'm glad someone picked up (modified) those old Starship trooper models.

I've been to Little Wars many years and it was very welcoming for all minis gamers but that was the HMGS Midwest chapter's baby. I can only base my thoughts on Historicon from the comments of various posters on TMP where the East chapter seems to congregate to chat. The atttitude I described, while NOT unanimous, is a significant theme there. In any case, I don't want to derail the thread much more. If the OP wants to comment on their actual experiences there then so be it; if not, no worries.

In terms of games hosted, Historicon is pretty much all historicals, but the sales floor has pretty much been "Whatever you want to sell" for at least 24 years (when I first went) and is well attended. I haven't been for ~3 years, but there hadn't been any decrease or cultural shift there that I had seen.

Yup, in fact I bought my first Warmachine models and the rulebook at a Historical convention (Britcon to be precise) many many years ago.

There are plenty of non-historical miniature games running at Historicon this year. I just ran a planetfall game last night and I'll be running another this afternoon. There was a lot of interest and no one gave me a problem (about running a non-historical game).

You should really ignore the highly vocal TMP crew. Most of them won't go to Historicon anyway because it's outside of eastern Pennsylvania.

Happy to say I got the DBA EIR army pack and a set of the Gladiators. Perfect opponents for the Corvus Belli Ancient British I picked up recently.
