Morning chaps

Has anyone else been following the progress/previews of Warlord's Winter Americans? They've posted a bunch of photos of the sculpts on their Facebook page (and they've been gathered-together on Beasts of War - see link below) - does anyone have any more info on release dates or whether there'll be plastics?

http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/bolt-action/forum/topic/preview-warlord-winter-american-range/

Having picked-up the German Grenadiers kit quite recently and seen the level of detail, the amount of options available, and the use-ability of the kit - I can't wait to see what they do with the Winter Americans... the sculpts look lovely, and I'm already planning a Battle of the Bulge force!

Anyone else?

Very, very, very [I could fill up a whole forum page with verys alone] disapointed they're not plastic. Artizan Designs have had you done as far as metal winter yanks and K'sH go for a number of years now.

I agree with Sing - these should be plastic. I bet we see winter Germans in plastic before long - surely winter Yanks would be popular. I can't believe they're putting plastic figures for that wretched BtGoA game ahead of Bolt Action.

Without wishing to hijack the thread, Warlord are also about to release an SdKfz 251/16 in plastic, with some crew in protective gear.

Me too. Though not disappointed in Warlord as I know they have a lot going on. I believe expensive new plastic production is being geared toward gates of Antares releases.

Americans do need an updated plastic box soon though.

I don't fething believe it either- whilst the BtGoA does look nice [not wretched at all] it's very new and i can't see any plastic for it getting more than maybe 3% of the attention anything WW2 American would get. Wish they'd kick Cutting Edge out and make plastics for ancient Eyptians/other bronze age civs as well.

Yep, Warlord has a good thing going with the BA plastics, the latest boxes are starting to be nice. Personally, I'd update all the important infantry boxes to the latest standard, and solidify the WW2 grip, before moving on to new games. Then again, they have been expanding BA lineup for some time, so maybe they just want something fresh!

The German Infantry would need a new plastic box as well. The German one is a couple of years older than the basic US infantry, and it shows a bit.

I was pretty sure the recent German Grenadiers [grenadier being the term for the Heer infantry after 1943] box was supposed to be the replacemant late-war German infrantry set.

Hopefully there will be a new boxed set of Brits as well, as they were the second Bolt Action plastics kit Warlord did, right after those Germans.

Hmm.. Now that I look at it, you might be right. Those camo tunics threw me off, but there's only a couple of them per sprue. The weapon options seem to be the same.

So basically there's three generations of BA infantry sprues: G1 is separate arms, simple weapon poses, separate base sprue. G2 is separate arms, bit more diversity with poses, bases on same sprue. G3 is the latest, with most weapons and bases on same sprue, some arms attached to weapons. Right?

Yes, the old Late War Germans are going away.

The new retailer displays don't include them.
The new panzergrenadier box sets are Blitzkrieg with 251/1 C or Grenadiers with 251/1 D.
The old 1000 point German army box w/ Late War plastics has been discontinued (only Blitzkrieg and Grenadiers army boxes available)
There is a rumor of a new Battle of the Bulge based starter set coming at the end of the year containing plastic Grenadiers and plastic US Airborne.

Seriously, how many plastic airborne sprues are they going to sell? Everyboy fell in love with Airborne after band of brothers, and they're the only legit veterans available to the Yanks.

I certainy buy plenty of US Airborne if Warlord were to convert them to plastic, even though I've never watched BOB.

Maybe they should do BoB models and sell them bundled with a DVD box. I'm sure there's 28mm BoB models somewhere, already, though?

FoW has them as well - a bit of a stretch with 15mm models, but didn't seem to stop them http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx?tabid=79&ProductID=5034
