Nowadays most of my opponents are different Eldar. And most use the Craftworld warhost formations as a base for the army. And It's just so much pain to go up against an army with basicly a 12" moving infantry that can shoot the crap out of any unit. Massed boys don't work as even with a Painboy they take too many casualties to be effective, meganobs are also mediocore as Eldar just froce them to roll 1s or just roll 6s. Tankbustas don't do enough damage against them, Lootas get killed after a turn or two by deepstriking Warp Spiders, Mek Guns don't last long either. Trukks can get wrecked by every unit in one shot, Battlewagons are just blown away by D-weapons. Not to mention the psycic phase... And right now I'm wondering - How the damn am I supposed to last longer then Turn 2? Can Orks go up against Eldar and if yes, than what units (apart from Warbikers) can be effective against them?

I've had really good luck with a mix of Warbikers/warboss/painboy on a bike, trukk boys (min troop choices), and bully boys (+skorchas) in trukks. adjust to point values and throw it all on the table

I'll generally run CAD and give my warboss Da Finkin Cap, rolling and rerolling on strategic to try and get infiltrate and/or conqueror of cities.

everything turboboosts/flat outs up the board behind cover if available. absorb 1-2 rounds of fire being more careful to take cover if i'm going second.

I usually lose a good 1/3-1/2 of my army by turn 2, but if I've set it up right the rest of my army all makes its charges on turn 2 and rips da pansies a new one.

I've found getting a good medium/close distance mitigates how far away they can get from any of my trukks the following turn without forgoing shooting for turbo boosting. Too close and everything turboboosts away out of reach.

Full Disclosure: it's usually against massed dire avengers and wave serpents (with that +1 BS thing) with some warp spiders and fire dragons and bikes...I haven't had to face d-scythes or wraithknights yet.

That's just what's worked for me so far. I've found a lot of folks underestimate the mobility of a speed freak list and aren't prepared for massed turn 2 charges.

Mostly depends on your lists unfortunately. Not much you can do other than list tailoring.

If he brings lots scatbikes, than artillery and battlewagons.
If he brings lots of infantry, than artillery and...more artillery.
If he brings a lot of d-scythes than a lot of artillery and boyz.
If he brings a lot of wraithknights than a lot of boyz and...more boyz.

Simple avengers and serpents don't put all hat awful lot of firepower no more.
Mass of boyz + artillery will work.
Or a hell ton of bikes. They'd rip that eldar list apart.

Played Eldar against a regular (and competitive!) friend of mine few days ago.

Orks won 15vp's to 14vp's - was a close and brutal game.

I played very aggressively with a Blitz Brigade, full on in his face asap. Eldar hit hard, but there were too many priority targets for him to deal with (even though I went second).

Dropping his Wraithknight turn one with x2 squads of Tankbustas helped of course

That sounds like an awesome battle! I'd love to try Blitz Brigade, but I only have 3 Battlewagons to my name, and I just can't justify spending over a hundred dollars and more time and effort painting up all of them.

Plus the main thing about Blitz Brigade that I HATE is that the Battlewagon is so damned expensive. The Blitz Brigade requires you to spend MINIMUM of 550 points on NAKED transports! That's over a third of your army, assuming that you don't upgrade any of them with weapons! Since the Battlewagons are going to cause ZERO casualties that effectively means that in a 1500 point game, you have to kill 1500 points worth of your enemy's troops with less than 1000 points of you own. That sounds REALLY tough to pull off.

I might proxy a couple Trucks as Battlewagons and try it one of these days though.

I really wish the Blitz Brigade was 3-5 Battlewagons instead of FIVE. The Ork formations all seem like they were just designed to force Ork players to buy MORE models, like we didn't have a million already. I've been playing Orks for a decade, and I don't have enough models for hardly ANY of their formations.

Meganob formation with inflitrate from warlord trait in trucks are the bane of my list. Cant kill em quick enough

The infiltrate is great however unreliable since even with the thinkin cap and reroll warlord trait for 2 traits and reroll a on the traits is still only about a 65% chance for that trait.

Also Eldar are the best at dealing with infiltrate since you can infiltrate within sight for 18in. Eldar can effectively block Thier deployment zone if they spread out with units on the line then jump shoot jump back this means those ork trukks at best get a 6 in scout like deployment jump and once you pop those trukks those meganobs need to move across the board

I played Eldar with my boyz yesterday and won pretty convincingly. I found out afterwards that I had omitted the cost of shootas from my boyz, meaning I was 17 points over, but that would just have meant one less bike from my squad of 15, so...

I had boyz and flash gitz in wagons and a load of bikes as the core of my army. My tactic was to drive around shooting things, finish off what was left in close combat and storm objectives towards the end. Worked pretty well

Ok, keeping all advices in mind, I had two games against Eldar yesterday. We played Maelstorm missions and ended 1:1. My list was about boys in Trukks, Meganobs in a BW mith a DLS Megaboss, Lootas for long range support, lone Deffkoptas for eating overwatch and a Weirdboy with Flashgitz in a BW as a fun element (I did'nt think I would win so I wanted to have some fun at least). I lost the first game 14:7 because my opponents seerstar teleportet out of combat (because of Gate of Infinity) with my Meganobs and they got flamed by Wraithguard. My lootas did't get much to shoot at because of terrain blocking them. Overall it wasn't bad, just did't get the right objective cards. The second game was won with 15:14 with one trukk with only one hull point left. My opponent used an Elder Warhost with two additional squads of Warp spiders. His guardians got ripped apart by boys, his warwalkers died to the lootas shooting and the Meganobs got finished only at turn 5 because he got lucky and rolled a lot of sixes with his spiders (good God, I realy hate them!). Not bad overall, I should add more trukk boys (I used only two squads) and some Warbikers with a painboy.

A hardcore Ork spam list can hopefully overwhelm a more general purpose eldar list by flooding the board with a certain type of thing. Blitz brigade, biker spam, and even trukk spam requires different tools to handle from range and Eldar don't want to go into CC with Orks as their are too many bodies for eldar to try and cut through with their more shooting focused army. D scythes are the bane of Ork (and everyone's) existence and need to be shot to bits ASAP.

If the Eldar is a cheeser dog and list tailors against you then you will most likely lose horrible. At that point you just laugh at them for playing Eldar and having to list tailor against Orks of all things. Orks are a mid tier army while Eldar are near the top (plus the king supreme of cheese) so its definitely an uphill battle for the boyz.

The key to defeating Eldar is threat overload: have lots of boyz in trukks, bikers, lootas, arty, etc.

Eldar are more than capable of picking apart an army with their firepower. With so many threats on the board, the Eldar firepower will be spread thin. You can also adopt the same tactic, and focus fire on the Eldar units that pose the greatest threat. If all else fails, get into CC; for most Eldar units the best they can hope for is to lose and successfully break off.

Of course, this assumes that the Eldar player isn't a total cheesemonger. If they are, and have built a list that reflects it, the Ork player stands virtually no chance of winning.
