So, been working on some gear to outfit my space marines, and I am unable to find or figure out which kits offer the best deal for what I need. The items in question are standard power armored storm bolters and an actual power lance. So, anyone happen to know of these?

I dont think iv ever seen a plastic power lance....good luck with that one.

Regular standard storm bolters you will probably find the most in the Stern guard kit

Otherwise if you want to be fancy, the GK wrist ones are also very accessible.

edit: Oh right i guess you can convert halberds.

Storm Bolters come with the Sternguard kit and a single one with the commander kit.

Power lances are pretty rare tough. I can only think of the Grey Knight halberds at the moment.

The Sternguard does seem to have the most, at 2. So that isn't so bad. And, it is a box most people buy, so I suppose it has great distribution, and more than a few people in the general area might have some in bit boxes.

Did they once make pewter lances, the way you guys talk about them?

Power lances have never had any form actual physical construct in any model.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Which means we'll probably lose the rules for them.

Found the White Scar Commander. I wonder... didn't the old IG rough riders have lances too?

The old IG rough riders have lances as well, but they're metal and goofy looking as they have grenades strapped to them. They're not power lances per se, but their own special piece of equipment that only counts as a power lance for one turn.

There's a plastic stormbolter bit in the Devastator box as well, it goes on the right hand. I've got the sprue right next to me!

particularly as I've never heard of anyone building sternguard with stormbolters. Although I imagine if GW ever allowed us to use special ammo with stormbolters they'd suddenly become a popular choice

Rough Riders have hunting lances. Shining Spears have laser lances.

Nothing has ever had a power lance.

That White Scar thing is not a lance. If that's what you're looking for, every Dire Avenger squad comes with one. But it's still not a lance.

Grey Knights have some cool lances. When the 5th edition plastic kits came out, I bought a PA and Terminator box just to have parts for Deathwatch squads.

Spoiler:

For storm bolters, I have a handful in my bitz box that will never get used because they stink. I am not sure what kit they came from nor why Sternguard can't use special ammunition with them.

Those are more like spears or glaives or halberds. A lance is the weapon that horse-mounted knights use while jousting.

(I highly doubt anyone would really give a crap about what your power weapons look like as long as they have a uniform appearance - i.e. all axes look similar, all swords look similar, etc.)

While True are you going to argue with a 8 foot tall Mongolian super solider?

White scars dont have access to halberds so the only other pointy thing on a long stick would be the lance.

On the bright side it means all you really need to do is buy a box of GK and have all the bits you need.

Yes they do. They're called power axes. Axes chop. Lances poke. That is not a poking weapon.

There are 2 stormbolters in the sw box, but they do have some wolfy looks.

Also i used to field all my vet sgts with stormbolters; i just glued 2 boltguns together(after some shaving down), then filled in the gaps with some putty. I liked the 2 individual barrels much better than the usual oblong blargh.
