Hey mates, came up with a list to test out some more using the BA Codex for my Drop Pod Army, with the main focus utilizing Dante with either Sanguinary Guard or Death Company to support my Drop Pod units. Have tried both out both and so far the Death Company and the Sanguinary Guard have done well so it's still a tie at this point as I'm torn on what they each bring to the table. But any feedback is welcome so tell me what you think.

* Dante

* Sanguinary Priest:
-w/Valors Edge, BP, Jump Pack, Melta Bombs

* (10x) Sanguinary Guard: ( w/Dante and Priest )
-w/2x PF, Angelus Bolters, 1x Chapter Banner, 2x Inferno Pistols, Encarmine Swords, 5x Encarmine Swords, Angelus Bolters

* (10x) Tactical Squad:
-w/Sgt. w/Combi-Melta, 1x Hvy Flamer, 1x Melta Gun, 7x Bolters, Drop Pod.

* (10x) Tactical Squad:
-w/Sgt. w/Combi-Melta, 1x Hvy Flamer, 1x Melta Gun, 7x Bolters, Drop Pod.

* (10x) Tactical Squad:
-w/Sgt. w/Combi-Melta, 1x Hvy Flamer, 1x Melta Gun, 7x Bolters, Drop Pod.

* (10x) Tactical Squad:
-w/Sgt. w/Combi-Melta, 1x Hvy Flamer, 1x Melta Gun, 7x Bolters, Drop Pod.

* (7x) Assault Squad:
-w/Sgt. w/Inferno Pistol, CCW, 2x Melta Guns, 4x BP, CCW, Drop Pod.

* (7x) Assault Squad:
-w/Sgt. w/Inferno Pistol, CCW, 2x Melta Guns, 4x BP, CCW, Drop Pod.

* (7x) Assault Squad:
-w/Sgt. w/Inferno Pistol, CCW, 2x Melta Guns, 4x BP, CCW, Drop Pod.

Total: 1997 points.

So far, it has done pretty well as I have yet to lose with it however I am always willing to make some changes to try some new things. Only thing I'm still debating on going with his Death Company over Sanguinary Guard or maybe dropping the Assault Squads for Dreadnoughts.

If you turn 3 7's into 2 10's, and do some other swishing around, what could you replace the third 7 with? What you appear to be missing is a unit to tool around your own back end on objectives or string out your opponent.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

I have considered that, however purpose is this list was to utilize as many Drop Pods as possible to put pressure on my opponent. But moving things around I could do that and maybe add some other things as well. Any suggestions?

I don't really like all drop pod lists. You've got 4 units coming in the first turn and then 30 waiting until turn two at best. Going in piecemeal like that, and all bunched up isn't generally good. Your opponent will have their entire army to shoot 3/5 of your army and it won't end well in many cases. I understand this is what you want to do, but it just doesn't end up very effective.

I love drop pod lists. I usually run Sentinels of Terra for the short range bolter rerolls.

I like the mix of weaponry in your tac squads....you can drop and pop vehicles, or you can drop and flame infantry. Shame your dev squads can't, and Sternguard are still too expensive :(

I prefer dropping a minimum of 4, sometimes 5 pods the first turn. I usually keep a Dev squad and scouts on the table ( because vanilla assaulters aren't as good as BA ones).

That being said...what does Dante to bring to the table these days??? Does he augment the army in someway? Does he buff a unit? I'm thinking a Lib with Blood lance might be a better choice in a pod list ( of course, no guarantee he would get that right?)

Oh...I would drop the infernus pistols off the assault squads. You have 2 meltas, not needed. I'd augment your HtH in some way with some lightning claws on sergeants around the army, or if you can fit in a power fist or Thammer...I almost always find myself needing that in HTH in someway.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

Dante brings a psychological as well as alpha strike factor in the sense that by turn 2 or 3, not only does my opponent have to deal with an average of 4 to 6 Drop Pod Units, he then suddenly has a nasty unit of Assault Marines (Either Sanguinary Guard or Death Company depending on the day), which forces my opponent to chose to ither focus on this immediate threat or continue fighting my Drop Pod Units. So far it has worked very well as while I do lose a few of them before they Assault, they always provide a great distraction for me to capitalize on. Plus Dante is a nasty character and the unit he is with only scatters 6 inches max as they only use 1D6 when they Deep Strike.

Plan to make some more changes here in a bit as of I failed to mention it before, I am only running one Chapter (White Templars), but I am collecting units that I can run from every SM Codex so I can keep mixing things up and trying out new lists with various Chapter Tactics or different Codex's. For example, I have enough Tac Squad Models to run standard with 10x with 8x Bolters, 1x Sgt. w/Combi-Melta and a Meltagun, but I also have the models to field a SM with a Hvy. Flamer or even a Hvy. Bolter, or if I decide to field them as Grey Hunters, add an extra Melta Gun to the unit. So far, I have run various lists and so far these are the ones I have tested out with the most success:

* Imperial Fists (Sentinels of Terra Obviously).
* Salamanders
* Space Wolves

Blood Angels are next in line and right now the biggest debate is should I utilize Dante with Death Company or Sanguinary Guard. Besides that, they have a very flexible and nasty Drop Pod list due to there Assault Squads having access to both Plasma and Melta Guns, as well as Inferno Pistols, which ironically can add up to the same point cost as Tac Squad. I have had great success with Drop Pod lists, and I have run the Skyhammer Formation a lot with amazing success for obvious reasons (for that I ALWAYS use the Ultramarines to benefit the Devestator rerolls when they come in), but I want to try other things out and not have to depend on that Formation to win games. Plus it makes it fun for everyone else to play overall and not having to worry about getting tabled by turn two............ Unless your Necrons, you guys are out of luck if you play those bastards lol .

Not a lot of changes but nothing to extreme. However I have heard that PF's are wasted on Sanguinary Guard and that I should just go with the free Encarmine Axe for the AP2. Thoughts on that?

My current Meta or the people I have played so far don't have a ton fliers at the moment but I can make some changes to incorporate a flyer. Would just drop the Deadnoughts in favor of a Fire Raptor and then use any leftover points for other things. Very simple change.
