I have mixed feelings about all this craft beer. I like the small business approach and community oriented the businesses are (at least up here in Halifornia), but dear lord do I hate IPAs and similar. Give me a clear lager any day of the week. All this wheat beer, IPA, and other craft nonsense starts to take over the taps I'd usually get a Sleeman from or something imported like Harp.

That said, a local brewery (that I generally don't care much for) just came out with a maple ale that is to die for. feth me, what a good drink that is.

That's because they taste better and they can usually charge more for them

Bah, I prefer to drink my cheer, not chew it!

Yeah, and the craft beers aren't exactly cheap around here. Except the growlers. You can go straight into the breweries and pick up some dirt cheap growlers, so I guess there's that.

That's kind of funny, as the reason I started drinking ale (e.g. IPA) and other types of beer is that when trying the clear lagers when starting university, I did not find them nice at all. I tried Old Empire in a pub, and actually enjoyed it, then branched out to Hobgoblin and several others, and introduced some of my friends to have it. This was well before the current craft beer scene, I would think.

I don't think I've actually tried an American IPA though.
