Basically, I just want some good novels with fluff regarding the Emperor's power level. I've never had anything concrete about him, and everything calling him a God is from the Imperium's propaganda (except for what I've learned in the wiki, here, and other forums, but I can't substantiate that with a quote). I mean, honestly, I'm getting sick of just calling him "a God", and not having any fluff to back it up. does anybody have any solid fluff regarding whether the Emperor actually IS in a coma, or fighting a never-ending war against the Chaos-Gods, or etc.? Honestly, I'd even just take a few quotes, so that I could just bookmark this page and return for the quote when I need it in a future argument.

No gak, sherlock. I'm simply looking for a good BL novel, short story, etc. that will allow me to substantiate future claims regarding him that I make.

no single novel'll do I'm afraid. the HH novels are your best bet. thing is for the plot to function in 40k. The Emperor's exact power needs to be difficult to pin down.

I'm also curious about this. Some of the big claims such as the Empy holding back Chaos from the Universe and if he snuffs it the entire universe will be swept up by chaos, where does this fluff come from?
Similarly, what is his greatest feat? Besides obliterating Horus of course, I've read that he *possibly* created a warp storm, possibly empowered Hector Rex, but what other feats are on his list?

He unified Terra, that was his biggest achievement prior to the great crusade. Read visions of heresy, it's by the Merrett, so it's all canon (if poorly written in places) and full of info about him.

BRB is the source of that material. Explicitly states that if dies, everyone's boned.
As for feats, he was wandering across the Milky Way before Long Night with casual teleportation across space and later stole power/knowledge from the Chaos Gods.

He competed against the primarchs as a man would compete with a child.
Developed man's own webway (which Magnus screwed up). Unified earth and formed an ally with Mars (apparently fixing a titan with his mind).
Turned Horus to dust, created the astronomicon and projects it with his mind (this may have been changed).
There are a few books that say he is locked in mortal combat with the chaos gods, however it also says that gork and mork also scrap with them as well.

See vengeful spirit for details on how the emperor upped his power level.
Biggest feat is surely creating and (initially on his own) powering the astonomicon.

As far as his current status is concerned, it may be old now but The Lost and The Damned is a good reference for this. Essentially his soul was removed from his body, so his body is no longer immortal. The reason he instructed Dorn to rig the Golden Throne up as life support was because that body is still a powerful conduit for his spirit to interact with the material realm. So he is in fact dead, in the sense that his spirit no longer resides in his body.

For a book where the Emperor is seen in direct physical and mental combat (and we actually see him use his 'obliterate it, and everything it loves' power being used), check out The Wolf of Ash and Fire.

More directs it - human psykers are the fuel.

Don't know about this one.

In the talon of horus we learn that the astronomicon actively burbs daemons, and has devastated a whole region of the eye of terror.
It's suggested in the early heresy novels that the chaos gods reason for fighting the emperor is he is a physical threat to them.

That's why he's called "the Anathema". There's something about the Emperor, both as a psyker and (as we now learn in the GK Codex) in physical being that makes him a counter-agent to Chaos on a fundamental level.

He wasn't. The Ork was never a threat to him, and after allowing Horus to have a bonding moment with him by "saving" his life, the Emperor immediately erased the Ork Warboss and his entire army in the same attack he'd later use against Horus.

The Ork was a means to an end, basically. Emp takes a dive in order for the Ork to go home with the belt, but Horus tags in at the last moment for the reversal, so Emp gets up and wipes the entire Ork horde off the map with an atomic elbow drop off the top rope.

The fun part is that they are pretty much telling the truth according to fluff. But it's so ridiculously out there it comes off as fanboy stuff but it isn't it's written similarly. Empy whom is a alpha psyker with a near absolute sense of Order on a thousands of yrs long mission to unite humanity for some reason takes a pause to lay down on the train tracks to see if one his boyz will come and save him like a damsel in distress. It's sooooo out there and random and dare I say human that one questions wtf the Empy was thinking atm (or what the very human author was thinking to be more precise). It's cute though an entire Waaaaaagh! written into the fluff for a plot device to show that Horus loves him before he tries to kill him. Or perhaps it's hard to seperate the man from the myths and legends created by the Ecclesiarchy whom are stubbornly trying to make him appear as a god (if Empy ever got out of that throne he would roflstompbbq that group in a flash).

Unlikely. The Emperor didn't stop the cults on Terra worshipping him in his lifetime. Even his beef with Lorgar wasn't over the temples, specifically, it was with the time it was taking the Word Bearers to actually progress in their part of the Crusade.
The temples and such were simply the reason for the delay, but it was the delay itself (it could have been for any reason, even secular indoctrination of the conquered populace) that would have drawn the Emperor's ire.

I can buy that, sure. But over the course of it's 9000~ yr existance the Eccelsiarcy has done some terrible things that kept humanity back despite being a force of unity. From the fluff I'm pretty convinced that they have moved humanity away from the direction the Empy wanted humanity to go (the less tangible aspects of humanity that is). As a race phyically crossing the stars united, at least they were able to keep doing that. From the same fluff I've learned that the Empy is srs bzns and has no morale or ethical trouble with stomping humans on planetary scales to ensure that everyone is on par with his way. He's the 'My way or the highway' kind of guy.

At what point in his life?
The Emperor of the 41st millennium is vastly different than the Emperor of the Great Crusade.
Also, the being on the Golden Throne isn't necessarily the God-Emperor of the Imperium.

Neither does the Ecclesiarchy. You either get with the cult, or you get burned at the stake. What stopped the Imperium's expansion was not the Ecclesiarchy but, rather, the Heresy itself. The Imperium was in ruins, its leaders dead (or half of them having turned traitor), its technological infrastructure in flames, its repositories of knowledge hopelessly corrupted. Even 10,000 years later, the after-shocks of the Heresy are still being felt. The split of the Mechanicum into warring factions, and the near-total destruction of Mars during the Heresy, has crippled the Imperium. There are massive, massive stores of knowledge that have been completely, totally and utterly lost, never to be recovered, and it is going to take a miracle to get mankind back to even a half-way point to when they still possessed such things... and the Mechanicum was hardly in great shape prior to the Heresy.
It would be akin to wiping from Mankind the knowledge of the generation of electricity here in 2015. Our current systems that perform this function would continue to operate, of course, for so long as we could maintain them... but none of those things exist in states where it would be safe to reverse engineer them (because they're currently powering our cities, our factories, etc.) and once they break down completely, it's a matter of having people on hand who have figured out enough from ignorant operation how some of the basic fundamentals function...
... and then trying to apply that knowledge to a completely different type of electrical generator. All without suffering some sort of catastrophic failure (like, say, forgetting how to recycle the coolant in a nuclear reactor, so it overheats and explodes).
As the systems break down and the study of their components to figure out how they worked stretches on into years and decades, more and more cities go dark, more and more factories shut down, unable to continue to produce the goods they once did, and so the knowledge of those industries is also lost. Pretty soon, you're left with a few functional power plants feeding only the most-critical of cities and installations while the rest of the world descends into a new (and literal) dark age.
